WELL I RODE IN MY FIRST DURAMAX A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. I TRADED MY 04' SS FOR AN O8' 2500HD DUAMAX 8 MONTHS AGO. HAVE ENJOYED THE BLACK LTZ SOFAR 9K MILES AND 6% OILLIFE LEFT, HAVE THE AMSOIL ON HAND WILL CHANGE THIS WEEKEND. I DO MISS THE PREFORMANCE!
BEING MY FIRST DIESEL WERE DO I START WITH THE MODIFCATIONS? WHAT IS THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF PARTS? WHO IS USER FRINEDLY, RELYABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY? WILL START WITH COLD AIR , PROGRAMMER , AND EXHUAST. CAN THE ALLISON TAKE IT?
JUST THINKING.

Welcome, X-whatever.

This is the DMAX place, wild to mild.

Alot of people go with cold air intake, then a programmer, then a trans/mod.

After that you can determine how far, how deep your pockets are. Sorry but it is a pricey hobby.

Cold air-couple hundred
Programmer $800-1000 PPE?
Trans-? I went stage 4 by Mike L 3-5K

That'll get you purdy easy breezy 13's

If that doesn't satisfy the need for speed...

7-10K trans
8K twin chargers
10-15K rods/pistons/heads/cam
2K Dual CP-3
Lift pump $400-750

Ah who cares! Welcome aboard!! It's a blast.:D

X2, Look at getting EFI from Kat, it has unlimited capabilities, and I am sure they can build you a trans. friendly tune;). Or if you are not ready for EFI, a PPE will do the trick exceptionally well.

Then any good 4" turbo dp back exhaust will do the trick. The intakes to look into would be either S&B or Banks. We have done both with great results, but unless you are looking at bigger hp (450 or above) the stock intake will flow the same as an aftermarket one.

A better option would be to look into a Diamond Eye Down Pipe, in my opinion, better bang for your buck than an aftermarket intake.

Let me know if I can help.
