Talked to Guy @ Socal today & he likes the LB7 crank because it has less counter weight mass than the later cranks. It takes less to balance them since the original LB7 stuff was lighter. He also went into a lot of detail about taking some material off of the counter weight on his after market balancers before he starts the internal balance. Sharp guy that Guy.

That issue with the clearance on the bottom of the piston was fix a while ago. The Pistons will work with both cranks.

Good deal.
Looks like I am going with the cheaper crank. (LB7/LLY)
Just don't tell anyone :D

Where did you end up finding the best price on that?

Still shopping.:cool2:
I'll post up when I make a purchase what I found and where.
It looks like GM Parts Direct may have the best price so far. Depending on what they charge for shipping.

Well $1065 shipped from GM Parts Direct. $1025 shipped from New GM Parts. $1045 shipped GM Parts Giant.
Going to check with GM in Billings when I get a chance and see what they want for one.

I am not sure if this is GM's part number or not.

This is the GM P/N for the LB7/LLY crank.

I went with a LML crank brand new for $900 last summer.

Interesting......I hadn't heard any news on how they were holding up in built engines.

It's $980 from my GM Tech buddy for the LB7/LLY in BC, but it has to come out of the US and I will have to pay tax on top of that so it works out to the same as getting it from most of the suppliers in the US.

Still need to check with GM in Billings.

Anything special that needs to be done to fit it in a non lml engine?

Pulled the trigger on an LML crank. Apparently it doesn't need anything else special done to it. Other than balancing.
Hoping for the best.

$725 shipped in the lower 48 from gm parts center.

Priced a LLY from Chev dealer today. List was like 1196 or something. Our cost normally would be 996.96 but they will cut us a deal because of the business we do. $899.xx and would be here in a week. Apparently LML ones are cheaper?
