You need to drive it down the road and get it good and hot.

At normal operating temps mine idles at 19-21 always has since I have owned it. And thats reading it off of my edge insight and efi live.
My truck gauge reads close to the same also.

Can you see the actual oil pressure with an autocal? I am just curious. I haven't played with my autocal enough to know how to use it yet, other than to flash in my tunes...

if you have a scan tool you can just read the actual oil pressure off the databus. Its very accurate.

I think he mentioned in another thread that his low oil pressure warning had been coming on also. I think he's trying to verify if his oil pressure is actually getting that low or if there is a sending unit problem.

So what's going on is. I was up in the hills hunting last weekend and I ran outa some stuff half way during the week. So I went to town (about 1 hr. Away) when I got back to camp I parked and right before I killed it I heard the bing and the dash said oil pressure low. Oil level looked good, its not leaking oil, and it seams to be running the same it always has no problems. It has happened one other time after that. ( the ding and warning) but only when its been driven for like 2 hrs. Consistantly and only bings when I stop. The rest of the time the needle is in the red or one line above 0. Needle reacts to throttle acceleration and deacceleration still. What do you guys think it is? Ill drive it and get it hot this weekend and re check with the mechanical gauge.

With the low oil pressure warning going off, it's either low on oil pressure or the sender is bad. Have you checked to make sure the oil isn't getting diluted with diesel?

So probably the pressure switch?

Get it good and hot or up to full operating temp range I should say and then check your mechanical gauge against your cluster gauge.

As mentioned make sure your not making oil by having a injector issue. How many miles on your truck anyway? Maybe I missed it

160000. I got it 10000 ago and idk if injectors got done before. But if my gauge was already 15psi off fromy my cluster to my mechanical even if it was just warm instead of hot doesn't that mean its probably more my sender? They should be reading the same even from cold right?
