Figured I'd see what some of you all that turn wrenches have done for times on our trucks.

Buddy of mine needed hubs on his Lbz dually. Beat my personal best on a srw truck by a min. I was surprised considering you have an adapter to put on. Btw, the adapter nuts, hub nut and lugs were torqued correctly after the video. Just wanted to see what I could do without it :D

14 min flat :D

It's because it was in fast forward. It really took him 2 hours. I'm pretty sure I saw the sunset and rise again. Lol

That's still fast. I haven't had to change one yet. I have done tons on chevy cars and they normally take about 45 minutes both side. They are cake though.

I did one on a 2wd a couple of weeks ago. Took about 5 minutes if that. Lol

And since you mentioned torque, I torque everything including the hub and caliper bracket bolts.

I change a 4x4 wheel bearing in under 15 minutes on average.. Rear axle seal takes about 20 minutes on a warm day. Lbz water pump in an hour and 15, calls for 8+ hours.. Lb7 inj in 5 hours was my quickest so far. Lly lb7 water pumps are an hour..

Although I have lifts and air tools too..

Didn't watch video.

I did LB7 Injectors and a CP3 in a couple weeks.... Outside in a snow storm:rofl: i would just wait for niceish weather:D

I don't get in to big a hurry anymore. Any wrenching I do at home is just for fun or a favor.

I don't wrench on my truck enough to get fast at a certain task, but when I worked at the tech center I could swap pistons/liners in an ISX in 8hrs.

I've done lb7 injectors in a little over 5 hours
Lb7 water pumps in about an hour
Full set of 6.0 PSD injectors in under 2 hours
5.9 Cummins injectors in under 2 hours
Just did a set of lbz injectors yesterday in about 2.5hrs. Including reprogramming flow-rates

I have to set records on how long it takes me before I flip the **** out when I work on shit, but I'm getting better. I spend more time and money on the shit I break before I finish what I even started working on.

Most of the time Im slow and not on the clock...messing around in the shop, BS'ing with buddies etc.

But the one time I was fast was when I had swapped turbos on my truck, I put the turbo on, backed it out, and found that the oil drain was leaking. I was so mad that I went into crazy mode and 50 minutes later, has the oil drain tube gasket replaced and truck driving again.

Granted, the engine wasnt hot, bolts werent rusted tight, and my truck has EGR and a couple other things deleted that make the job easier...

I got so good at pulling grand prix, Grand am, bonneville, etc fwd chevy trans I could do it in 25 min. That's dropping and swinging the cradle out of the way also. On jack stands no lift. Install took about 30-45 minutes depending if the trans jack would cooperate.
Made a lot of money on the book with these things. I think they paid 8 hrs iirc. I'd do two a day and go home. lol

video or it didnt happen :roflmao: :D

i really stick to making sure the hub/stub shaft nut is torqued correctly. i feel thats part of the reason these hubs fail early on some rigs though the one on my truck was and the suckers made it 20k before failing in denver.

arent the caliper bolts something like 200ft lbs? i remember thinking "damn thats alot!"

hey hey, no averages Corbin! lol no air tools means your working your ass off. it would take another 10 min to get that damn dually adapter off by hand and someone holding the brake (or thrown a breaker bar between the lugs)

I am not as fast as I use to be but just as fast as I always was. :roflmao: But really I probably spend more time looking for the wrench that I just had in my hand than doing the work. I think it's called sometimes.:roflmao:

I still think we have the record for a converter exchange on an '02 4X4. Trans out in 14 minutes and back in and running in 30 minutes. Total time 44 minutes. Had a bunch of witnesses.:cool2::D

When I was doing my IHI turbo testing I could swap compressor wheels in 2 hours and 30 - 45 minutes was the best time. This included driving the pickup in the garage, swapping wheels, pressure testing the system, and driving it out of the garage. Turbo was left in the valley, never pulled it.

I could swap the turbo in 4-5 hours if I remember from pickup in to pickup out included pressure testing but it's been awhile so I'd have to look at my testing sheets to be sure.
