Question: What's the best additive to run in diesel

Unless you're some where REALLY cold and moisture is a concern with fuel gelling you only need to add lube to the Ultra Low Sulfur fuel . It was just like when they took the lead out of gas years ago. The newer trucks you gotta figure are designed with the current fuel.


Two-Stroke is CHEAP and readily available and works IMO for this purpose for early model years. Your mileage may very.

Blend? Not sure of any "recipe" No one has discussed that I recall


I remember this tho more of a racing fuel high cetane.

Has anyone else noticed a loss of mpg with the use of the white bottle power service like I am? I thought it was supposed to increase mpg! I have a lml with 3500 miles on it. Im looking to increase mpg and increase the longevity of my fuel system. Any thoughts would be great as Im new to the diesel world.

I run Power Service Diesel Kleen as it's the easiest to get in my area and works great. But I would like to try Stanadyne or Optilube as I have heard nothing but good things about them.

X2. I use to use Power Service in the white bottle & my MPG went down. Then I used Power Service Diesel Kleen (silver bottle) & mpg was up again. Try another brand.

I quit using a fuel additive cause my truck was regening twice a tank full. I dont care to run a fuel additive anymore until I remove the awful DPF.

I used 2 stroke and ATF pretty religiously first 120k I put on my truck. My injectors lasted that long and I was happy. Now I dont run anthing except for a bunch of ATF when my fuel light is on to help clean my injectors out which has done me pretty well the last 50k.

In summer use the gray bottle not the white bottle the anti gel in the white bottle (winter blend) will hurt your fuel mileage the gray bottle (summer bled) your gonna notice a little more power as it has cetane boost.

Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement (white bottle) has a cetane boost.

Is Opti-lube available in stores like the power service is? I use the gray bottle, and have thought about switching. It's just that the Diesel Kleen is so easy to get a hold of.

I know its not in major chain stores. Online is the only place that I know of to get Opti Lube.

On our farm we use Lucas upper cylinder lubricant very religiously in all of the semis, tractors, gas and diesel vehicles. Local Cenex Co-op carries it for a good price and we are usually buying that stuff by the gallon jugs. One semi with a 60 series Detroit, you can tell when you don't have any additive in it.

I use Diesel Kleen. Tried the new stuff from Royal Purple and it seemed to make my truck run sluggish during that tank of fuel. Definitely prefer Diesel Kleen
