My son was driving the truck. Stock tune, so he does not hot rod it. Heavy rain then snow in so cal mountains. Came down from mountain cruising on highway and suddenly dash lights, door locks, instruments all quit. truck running ok and starts ok. efi live has battery at 12.8v while running. I attached picture from the efi dtc page. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Thats what i think, but no previous symptoms. does it control door locks too? I also have my lift pump wired like ppe says and its not running either. I did not think that it ran through the dash module, although it is wired for key on.

more searching leads me to the idea it might be a BCM issue. is the bcm and ecm the same unit in our trucks? i know this sounds like a dumb question but want to make sure what i am looking for. my searches say it will have to be programmed by the dealer?

They are not the same. BCM is a little box under the steering column in the truck. It is a module that helps control body functions like you are talking about. It is only programmable by a Tech2(dealer). Have it checked. And reprogrammed. A new one is about 170 at wholesale cost.

could a short on the lift pump or the 4x4 encoder motor cause this to happen. I have not checked fuses yet as it was late and raining, but will looking later today

I would check whatever fuse you have anything wired into

Thanks Jordan. My 2 biggest concerns are both the already mentioned peices. I will definitly check those when I get home from work. From dieselplace someone said to check the TBC fuses in inside interior fuse box.

well found the problem. the lift pump is seized and fried the 10a tbc fuse in the under the hood fuse box that the ppe lift pump piggybacks into.

Sounds like a good reason to have that circuit trigger a relay that has it's own fused circuit from the battery to power the lift pump. At least that problem is a cheap and simple fix. What are you going to do about the pump? Does it have any kind of warranty?

yeah i could add another fuse. pump is maybe less than 1 year hopefully its covered. if notI will be fairly disappointed with the overall lifespan and yep i am glad it was not a control module.
