I have a 04.5 2500. The last couple months the transmission temp gauge has acted pretty weird. A couple of times, and again today, the temp has shot up to and past 300 degree mark. The first time it happend it was about 95 degrees outside, I got it home and let it sit for about a day and a half. When I check it the temp had come down a little but was still really high, around 250. That was with it sitting. Let it sit for 2 more days and it was fine. Didnt have the problem again for about three weeks. Nothing had changed as far as the way I drive or the temp outside. It ran fine and then the same issue, around 80 degrees outside. Now Im back to seeing the transmission temp past the 300 degree mark right now. I dont get any indication from the DIC that anything is wrong, no codes are thrown. Im not stuck in any gear. Not leaking fluid. The truck still seems to drive fine. I do not tow anything. Could it be a false indication? If so how do I fix the problem? I have searched the forum but it doesnt seem like anyone has posted a similar issue. I am not very mechanically inclined so please try to dumb down any technical terms. Thanks in advance for the help.
