I dig the GMC LMM, those interiors look SWEET. If I get a job I might be tempted to trade in my 02. But thats not very likely.

LB7 - I don't like the injectors, pain to change and they've had the most problems

I like tuning VVT trucks but

LLY - seems to be the most anemic of the DMax's in stock form
LBZ - piston problems
LMM - same pistons as LBZ and more emissions to worry about

Really just depends on what you want to do with it IMO.

I much prefer the GMC styling. The 01-02 Chev styling was the best for chevy IMO. As far as engines, for a daily driver and only slighty modded I vote LBZ the 6 speed tranny is much better for towing and DD. The LB7 engines are what we built for the race truck, don't know if you build a motor it makes much difference. LB7 injectors are a pain, and they are getting harder to find at a decent price. Building the newer motors might actually be better do to the injector design and not having to worry about the cups. As far as putting twins on for a daily driver, anything with a VVT is better unless you go big. So I guess I like them all.:D

Seriously I like driving the LBZ - Six-speed, stronger Allison, better block, stronger rods, no FICM. Bone stock (if it doesn't have the factory 1-2 defuel TCM calib) it's a freaking animal. It is quicker in quarter mile as a stock 350 ci Nova, or a full dress Harley, which is still rocking pretty good. With BPU's, it's the most likely model to run 12's. I should say that there are a higher percentage of "tuned" LBZ's in the 12's than any other diesel pickup model, regardless of mfr.

I like my LB7 no emissions crap and strong pistons I don't care for the injector problems though. I like the LLY as well for hot rodding. Without building the motor I wouldn't touch a LBZ/LMM at the power level I am at but for a driver a LBZ would be my choice
