What would you do?

I have a buyer for my truck and they have given me a deposit. They want to take it to the dealer to make sure the truck is solid which is fine.

The question comes do you let them take it to the dealer and bring it back?

I was thinking with a copy of their driver license and their vehicle which is a Nissan Titan it would be okay.

I am busy at work and my wife would have to bring my 4 month old along and wait which wouldn't be fun

what would you guys do?

I sold a motorcycle years ago and the buyer wanted it inspected at his dealer he trusted. I said no problem when ,where,what time should I be there with the motorcycle? By no means with or with out a deposit would I let a no body take possession with out full payment in hand. What if he crashes? Just isnt worth the chance.

X100 million. When you loan your vehicle, you loan your insurance. If he got in a wreck guess who's policy/rates get the bill? It's just not worth the risk.

This, even if he is a good dude and someone hits him the insurance companies will fight each other for a while over the bill. For me I have on my insurance that I am covered no mater who owns the truck, but you never know what he has. Just make time to ride with him

my question is there bank going to have me sign something like the car dealers do,

that I give them permission to pay off the loan and transfer the ownership

I have never sold a car I had a loan on only traded in not how sure it works

Let the banks talk to each other, since they "own" the truck and hold the title to it.

The people buying it from you will need a noterized bill of sale. I believe they will provide it but dont quote me on it.

His bank will give him a casheres check to your bank to pay off the loan. You will have to sign an agreement to OK this to your lender. If there is a difference ( your profit on the truck ); he or his bank will need to issue another Casheres check for the difference. DO NOT accept a personal check.

Signed the title. Got the money. Don't know why, but mailed the registration to MVD.
Several weeks later, got a visit from the Feds. They wanted to know about the buyer.
Apparently, it was in a single vehicle accident with two dozen (24) occupants. Six in the cab & eighteen in the back. Regular cab, longbed.

It was being chased through the desert by a Humvee & crashed. The driver got away.
And they said, 'hmmm . . . lucky for you that you sent your registration in'.

Unreal! Also to the OP take copies of everything bill of sale etc etc for your records. Back to the bike sale ,we all have horror stories, the guy who bought my bike about a year and a half later I get a letter in the mail from the Danbury PD about charges for abandoning of a motor vehicle plus storage fees . I was like WTF?? Apparently the dude crashed the bike, NEVER REGISTERED IT , left it there and they traced it back to me by the vin as the last registered owner! I sent them copies of the documents and a letter and it was dropped . Thankfully I had it.
