Nothing wrong with using converter bolts over if they are cleaned and locktighted. I choose not to do that for a reason because they strech and will shear off. I get payed well to do what I do and people expect the best of my ability. They deserve a set of new 6.00 dollar bolts.
As far as your apology; you are full of shit. you meant every word and that is fine with me, just don't hide it. If you have a difference in opinion, state it. Let the members decide how they will use the info. That's what this board is all about.

a little harsh don't you think? anyways i don't need to hide anything, i consider myself a pretty honest person. if i wouldn't have meant it, i wouldn't have said it. i appreciate your being straight forward with me though mike.;) as long as he got the information he was looking for thats all that matters.

If the bolts weren't over torqued they are not stretched or yielded, but I agree with what your saying. $6 is pretty cheap for a little piece of mind.

If you knew the relationship of a 75 pound converter and a crankshaft with a high hp engine, and what happens then, you would know it has nothing to do with over tightening. I will not give any other information here on this subject.
