Hey guys I have a friend that has a 6in. lift and 35's on his LMM. He says he doesn't like the way it stops. It feels to soft. I was wondering what type of aftermarket brakes work the best on the dmaxs? He wants a good firm feel that stops better. The car guys around here swear by the SSBC kits but I haven't heard much for our trucks. Any ideas?

The ssbc shit is really nice, and pricey!!! Acdelco makes some very pretty drilled and slotted rotors...Then the napa ''one stop'' brake pads are as good if not better than gm. That stuff combined with SS brake lines and you got a nice pedal!!!:thumb:

Several guys really like EBC brakes on our trucks. IIRC though SSBC has a larger rotor kit if he wants to go all out.

I was really suprised at the price of brake parts. Yeh I want to stop, but they seem really high for what you get. When I get my truck going faster than my brakes can handle then I will look at upgrading.

just be carefull of buy ebc's in the slotted only version . when I ordered mine i used ebc's web site to get part #'s and the slotted only ones dont fit over the rear hub and e brake part is to small . if you want matched sets front and rear look at the slotted and dimpled versions

I have the SSBC calipers (front only) and vented rotors ( 4 corners ) and using Hawk Pads, on my Dually. The Caliper are a little bigger bore piston and hold more fluid, but the rotors are the same size, as the factory, But I felt a big difference when installed. I have seen the Wilwood Brakes kit for the Hummer modified to fit the 2500HD +3500HD & Dually, Bigger Calipers and Rotors about $6000. And Brembo brakes makes a kit for about $8000.

From my standpoint, I have a real hard time not using the stock components, but I am not lifted or running oversize tires. I have over 140k miles on my truck, and have never done the brakes. The last time I looked, the fronts are getting close and the rears are at about 50%.

I have done a fair amount of towing, but everything that had any amount of weight also had trailer brakes.

I saw somewhere that there are braided lines available to go from the steel lines on the frame to the calipers. I know from my bikes that the braided lines will add a lot more feel to the levers (pedal on the truck). Unless I get really fast, I just can not justify spending the $$ changing the hard parts-especially when they seem to last so long.

Well I told him what you guys said and he went and ordered a grand worth of parts. I guess I will see what good brakes feel like.

I'm all for aftermarket brakes but who in their right mind would spend 8 grand for friggen brakes?

Someone that has more $$ then sense? The real question is what kind of manufacture would do the R&D on them to sell 5 sets of brakes?
