Well we finished our season this year and the truck has been working better than ever. Swept the last 3 pulls with 1sts. Next year the sanctioning club has decided to make local a little more open and closed all in the same. It will no longer be a RWYB class and shouldnt be in my opinion. They decided on 66mm charger limit and s300 or similar frame only. No front weights 8500 LBS class. With all safety stuff including air kills. So my truck now is a tune intake exhaust and a lift pump LB7. It has done very good based on setup and I would like to continue to do good. The trans is stock right now but do plan on building it this winter. So my question here is what would a motor do that was Mildly built? LBZ or LMM rods or maybe carillos. stock cut pistons etc. I guess my question is if you guys were in the situation I am what would ya do? Build trans and run the truck as is? Throw a s366 on stock fuelling? or go all out build motor and dual rear axle etc?

So basically your wanting to build a truck identical to a PSD truck with a little smaller turbo and no dual fuelers? BTW unless you can pull 4th gear a built trans isn't going to help you much. Just start in 3rd.

yes basically lol, do you have any LMM motors left? I dont think 650-700 will be enough for the hero gear. I was going to try to leave in third in elmvale but it didnt get done in time. I may even go PSD but am unsure on my setup for it

This is just my opinion. Don't build your motor until it blows. Run it hard only when hooked to the sled and keep your fingers crossed. If I had to do it over again I would have jus stayed in psd and ran my stock motor until it let go. The most fun I ever had pulling was with my stock motor, cheeta, injectors, lift pump and built trans. You might as well call the new class work stock as it ain't no local class anymore.

1. Tires, 35x12.50's if you can run them, duals if you can
2. Gearing, 4.88s (with above 35's)
3. before sinking a lot of $ in your allison, i'd look into a zf6. (manual trans is alot better for pulling)
4. i wouldn't touch the motor til you need to

I completely agree I wish I wouldn't have touch my motor until it let go and had way more fun with it stock bottom end as it was still fun to drive.

Care to elaborate why the zf is better than the Allison. Not looking for a pissin match just curious.

after having an allison for 4 years and going to a clutch set up in my open drive line. i'd never have an auto for pulling again. just my opinion but i think a manual trans and a clutch offers several advantages. i had too many converter, gear shifting problems, turbo lighting problems, etc with the automatic to go down that road again.

Do you think putting dual's on a work stock truck that's about 600hp and can't hang weights would be worth doing at that power level? I'm running 315/70/17 bfg's.

4:10, I pull in 3rd gear low. I was thinking since I can't hang weight's, that it would help with traction because the front tires don't dig as much with no weight on the front.

if you're allowed to stick weight behind the front bumper i would do that too

No slipping and what horsepower? I can't believe it's doing so good starting off in fourth, that puts alot of stress on them

850-900 (guessing)
No slipping
You gotta remember its low range
430k on the trans. All at stock hp
Don't think about trying to dyno it
Would recommend it to the guy trying to still drive it on the road
There's plenty other places to dump $4 grand into these trucks if they're not going to be on the street

Im glad you have good luck with converters. Got about 20 hooks out of my last one. Might b a touch higher on HP though. Im sure what charger setup your trying to light makes a difference in them too. Probably going manual next year.
