Ok.....let me ask this......has anyone here ever heard of a Danville turbo? I called and they said they could get me a turbo, downpipe, EFI live, DSP5, and tuning done all in one package......and has anyone ever heard of Mark Boviak? Good tuner?

If I loose the VVT it will spool slower won't it?

Not necessarily Eric. With good tuning you will hardly notice a difference. I would lose the VVT completely or go twins. The upgraded stock chargers arent worth the price IMO. HTT makes a really nice single kit that is under your target price. Brian just made 622 with his.

Just got some pricing and some options......seems like an HTT single might be my best bet.....but now I have to decide about the install.... I was told about 13 hours total and bloody knuckles......and George will be doing my tranny sometime in the next couple weeks, which I was then told to do it with the tranny down, but then I would have to pay labor for the turbo install.....AH! My truck is a money pit! Do I do it myself or do it while the tranny is down? Anyone actually ever install one themselves??

They're not that bad. I do everything myself so I'd say do it yourself...saves $ and you learn something...did my with the truck completely together and in my garage about to do it all again too:spit:

I hope it's not too bad....I will prob. end up doing it myself, and paying my uncle a little bit to help me.....I def. enjoy doing things myself on my truck.....a turbo seems easy to install, but everyone says it's HeII to get bolts out, etc...

Do it with the trans out-WAY EASIER!! Those up pipe bolts were tightened by the hand of God and most do not like to come out easy!

If you dont want to pay George or anyone to do the turbo, Just ask George to crack the downpipe bolts loose and if you ask really nice he may even back em out and put some anti sieze on them so when you go to tear it down you dont run into a problem. I have not taken a crack at my DP bolts yet but they have been soaking in PB blast for a week now. I am not looking forward to it after hearing some stories:eek:. I say its worth the experience of doing the install yourself though

You could take the tranny out yourself and take it to George. It is really not that hard if you have some sort of jack for the tranny. Then you can do your turbo while your tranny is out and getting worked on. This is what I did when I did the twins and tranny, I wouldn't do it any other way. Oh and while your at it might as well get some RDL up pipes and put them on at the same time;) I regret not doing them when I was is there.

Thats almost exactly what I did. When I took my tranny out I spent the time sand blasting my frame and re-doing it with POR15:thumb: Got a lot of other little projects done like getting all the plastics painted and airdog lift pump on here while the tranny was at Georges shop. Pulling the trans isnt all that bad with the proper equiptment. Theres tons of awesome info on here and thedieselplace on pulling it as well.

I'm actually looking forward to the trip to MD to see George, so I'm cool with him pulling it, but like stated above, I think I'll ask him to hammer the bolts loose and never-seize them for me.....Great idea!
