doing a head gasket job today bc of white smoke when running and a waterfall coming out the overflow. now for what i discovered number three piston is melted. not through just the edges are guessing from a previous bad injector. this truck is not tuned and is fully stock. compression in this cylinder was 320 on a cold motor should the motor be pulled and piston replaced or don't bother. truck has 201k miles on it.:(

Do head gaskets and run it...That's what i would do. If you want to keep the truck for a long time then prob should pull the engine and replace a piston. Depends how bad it is too.

If its not showing any signs that a hole or crack may start, you may as well run it.

Makes you wonder how many LB7s are out there with that kind of damage from bad injectors, though....doesnt it?

Is this guy the original owner and never had the wick turned up? Myself I never had a injector go by way of excessive fuel. But I wonder if prolonged EGT'S would cause a melt. Also what's the chances of bent rods on a stock fuel system except a lift pump,no spray, oem turbo just 500 RWHP tuning? If high chances then there is numerous Duramaxs with unknown internal damage!
