Well blew my L58 Solobaric so its time to move on to something better I guess. Im using an old school Fosgate Punch 250 amp (bout 10-12 years old) and plan to keep it for now unless I find a good deal on something better. I had this in a box I made under the drivers side rear crew cab seat. It wasnt the loudest thumper in the world but it added some bass. Im not looking for homie g sound system anyways. Just want crisp clean tight bass.

Heres what Im still debating.....
- (2) 10" under seat with subthump.com box
- (1) 12" behind rear seat
- (2) 10" behind rear seat
- (2) 12" behind rear seats

I have seen the dual 12's on Ebay and am kinda weary as Im not a huge fan of Ebay to begin with. Anyone use them before?

Also Im most confused about what brand sub to use. Ive always been a JL fan but havent been up on this for years and years. I was told that Dayton Audio is good in cars also as Im planning on using them for my home system some day. Also was recommended Infiniti Kappas. Either way I need something that has a shallow mount like as in less than 5". Seen the new JLs like that but can only imagine the price.

So what setup is working for you guys?

i've got (2) 10s behind the seat with a sealed box. seems to work well

I would upgrade your amp. I'm using a 500watt amp.

I just had this junk audiobahn 10" that I pulled out replaced with a kicker comp vr dual voice coil. Holy crap what a difference. My amp is a rockford fosgate prime 500.1. The guy I bought the sub from said that it could use a bigger amp.

If I need another amp which Im sure I will its no problem as I will get one. I just dont know what subs sound good these days that arent way over priced and have a shallow mount. Im pretty sure I will be going under seat as I heard it sounds better and less muffled if you will. So (2) 10s whats your suggestions? Also what amp to run to them? Would like to keep on non expensive side if possible as I dont need a competition setup but would like it to hit hard. I can probably get an amp from a buddy as hes got a hook up.

Whats good place to get em? Discountjungle.net?

Wait a minute Wes, I thought you had an Audiobahn sub. Did you blow that one up? IIRC the one you had could handle around 2000 watts RMS.

I too like JL Audio. Had two of their 10W6's in my regular cab S10 and loved them. However, you are right, JL is pricey. I have a friend at work that just got one of the Kicker shallow mount subs and a 750 watt Kicker amp and it sounds good (this is in a car thought). If I ever replace what I have, I will put either two 10s or two 12's under the back seat. As you said, behind the seat does sound a little muffled if the subs are right against the back seat. A shallow mount sub would take care of this though.

I hope Wes doesn't mind but I attached a link below to a thread where he shows some pics of his box. Maybe this will give you some ideas. Good luck! :thumb:

2000 peak, 1100 rms. The 1200 watt amp I have actually pushes 1353rms ......at least according to the test the audio joint here ran it through, it did. JBL1200.1 .... motha pushes some wattage, guess it was too much for that sub.

Trying to find another that'll fit in that same box.

I run the JBL 600.1 pushing two kicker comp 12" DVC's in my reg cab s10 and it hits hard and sounds nice. I used the have the JBL 1200.1 pushing 3 kicker comp 12" DVC and that was LOUD. The old JBL amps were cheap, underrated, and were 1 ohm stable. The old rockford you have now is a awsome amp as well.

The box says item: 10CVR102

The box also says 800 peak, 400 rms, and 2 ohm. Mine is wired up in series if that makes a difference.

What audiobahn did you have that was junk?? Need to find something that I can run that won't get smoked again.

Thats what the guy that tested mine told me, but he said he wouldn't recommend running it at 1 ohm since its a huge load and would heat up quick.

Anyone have a recommendation on a sub that'll last behind this amp. Might consider two, but that means I gotta make a new box..... not that thats a bad thing:D

JL! I love them. You get what you pay for. I'm been running them for years; both stealthboxes and slash series amps. I also like the little flag on the boxes and being able to call someone in this country if you ever need it.
