Just remembered, I know of two other trucks running the same converter I'm running, one with a billet S480 and the other a billet S483. They both spool at the track fine.

Is yours the ml" sled puller"? Or you have to ask for that stall, and is 3000 what they advertise it as being

Its one they buid for Diesel Addiction, I think they call it DA high stall? I'm not positive about the advertised stall, I believe Dustin told me it was 3000.

Well here's just to show how hard it is. This was one pass before taking out the trans, and maybe heating the tc to hot aswell.

Holy moly man, it does seem to have stock stall. When I had my 1057 it acted the same I'd get up to about 2200 and it would just sit there.

Not trying to push anything on you but Dustin could tell you allot more about this converter and what to ask for from Precision if your interested. If you need something quick last time I was at his shop he had several stacked up in his parts room.

I can't afford the money to buy a new one. Pi is gonna charge 400 to cut clean refresh to whatever stall I want with a billet stator. I just hope they can get it turned around in a few days

I don't blame you $400 aint bad considering there putting the billet stator in. I bet if you gave them your turbo specs and emailed them that video they could fix you up with no problem.

If a converter stalls at 2500 rpm in 4wd hi 1st gear, then trans will have to be in 2nd gear in low range to have similar stall rpm. Simple tests to try in the driveway. So if you are starting in 3rd gear4wd lo, a 2500 rpm stall converter will stall at much more rpm actually. I'm assuming that's a t4 96mm turbine.

Yes it is a t4, blanketed. That's good info, I didn't know that. Do you have a recommendation? You or your buddies run anything like what I have with an auto?

You really think so? I heard from another guy running a similar charger his isn't even 3k stall... But you know how pullers like to keep secrets

It really depends on a lot of things, cam, charger, etc
A box stock S478/96 1.25 will need a lot of rpm to light.
I'm running a S475/83 1.10 box stock and I leave the line at 2700rpm 4hi the lowest I can leave on top of the charger is 2300rpm. This is drag racing so I like to leave the line with 30psi.

If you have a good charger you should be able to light it with a 3000 stall.

The truck I spoke of earlier is a weekend puller and still very drivable. It has ac still! Stock heads, SoCal cam that required pockets and low compression pistons. 100% injectors, 2 stock lbz pumps. Turbo is an engineered diesel s475 clipped 2.6 cast wheel 96 1.1 t4 exhaust. Pulling does 3rd gear starts and comes off the line crankin Rpms. Take probably 5 seconds to get it to 1300* egt on the line boosting it up and as soon as it hits that it's off like a rocket. On the street it makes 60psi boost and can spool and break traction at 75mph. All with a 1055 suncoast. More to a converter than stall. How it couples is important as well

Very informative thank you! Mine has an auto ally locker on it. So it locks right off the bat. I woulda just guessed anything that's got that much stall would have enough couple to get heat in it

This truck has a bt box it doesn't force lock for nothing. Slip limit changed in tcm gets it changed gets it locked and a switch to break the TCC signal for unlock. Works great
