LB7: What should my 3rd pillar gauge be?

I'm about to order my triple pillar gauges. I'm getting a boost and pyrometer gauge for sure. But I'm trying to decide what I should get as my third gauge. I was thinking a fuel pressure gauge. But I'm not really sure. How exactly does a vacuum gauge work. And what's the difference between a fuel pressure gauge and a fuel rail pressure gauge. Do you need an aftermarket lift pump to use a fuel pressure gauge. That's what the website is telling me.

If you wanted a supply pressure gauge yes it'd only work if you had a lift pump or the gauge showed vacuum as well. The fuel rail pressure gauge is high pressure and shows the pressure at which your fuel system operating

IMO rail pressure gauges are kind of worthless. If you don't know what the desired is, then it is pointless to see what the actual is. Drive pressure, or if you plan on a lift pump, the a low psi gauge can be handy to see if filters are getting dirty or pump getting weak.

I dont have a lift pump. So I can't get a fuel (supply) pressure gauge. That leaves me with fuel rail pressure or a vacuum gauge. How hard is it to install a fuel rail pressure gauge on a LB7?
And from what I've read the vacuum gauge is pretty much the same as the boost gauge.
Do I drill into the top of turbo turbo intake to put in the boost probe?
And I want to put my egt probe before the turbo instead of on the downpipe after the turbo.should I drill and tap the manifold right before it goes into the up pipe? After the 4th and last exhaust port?

Your engine should never go under a vacuum on the air side. You could use a vacuum gauge on the fuel side though if you never plan to install a lift pump. Or drive pressure would be a good one also like someone posted earlier. I also agree that a rail pressure gauge isn't all that useful

I'm confused. I have no idea what you mean by air and fuel sides. I do plan on getting a lift pump in the near future. The vacuum gauge I'm looking at is a T fitting. It says to cut a vacuum line and install the T-fitting. What vacuum line could I cut for the T-fitting of the vacuum gauge?
Is drive pressure the same as fuel rail pressure?

Do not get a vacuum gauge. If you plan on getting a lift pump soon, get a low pressure fuel gauge. Your lift pump should produce around 10-12psi so buy a gauge accordingly

Put an Edge Insight in there. Then you can monitor anything you want, plus check balance rates, read and reset codes and a lot more.

What is drive pressure?
How am I supposed to install a low pressure fuel gauge without a lift pump?

Not pointless unless you don't know how to tune and set rail pressure to max out. At WOT its worth it to me...meh

I've looked up some videos on how to install the boost probe. PPE uses a T-fitting on the wastegate line coming off the front of the turbo. I already have a PPE boost increase valve there so I don't know if I could fit a T-fitting after the boost valve in between the wastegate. It just seems like it would get bad readings. Another video showed them drilling a hole in the intake manifold after the intercooler. Which spot is better?

You do not need a triple pillar with a relatively stock truck. Dual pillar would suit your needs just fine. Only things you really should monitor is EGT and boost, considering the mods you plan on doing.

I don't want to install my boost.probe on the wastegate line because I already have a ppe boost valve there.
Is this the best place to put it?

You could do that, or -- to tie in another question you were asking -- you could remove that large fitting just to the right of that spot (its the intake heater) and either do as Dustin said in the other thread (cut the coils off and drill and tap the center of the heater nut) or buy something like this: http://www.xtremediesel.com/cfmcfmplusairintakeheaterdeleteplug.aspx
That link has a pic of what the intake heater looks like, too. Remember to disconnect the other end of the intake heater wire at the glow plug module. It will throw a code, but EFILive can eliminate that.

This will kill 2 birds with one stone. I want to do this but that link you sent me. What am I actually buying. Just that threaded plug with a small hole in the middle?
Does that go in the spot where the orange electrical unit is or where that small nut holding it on? And where are those coils at? Are they attached to that orange electrical unit with the plug plugged into it?
