Remove the smaller ones till you get what you want, but the more you remove the more axle wrap you will have to deal with, eventually the rear end will get too soft, adjustable shocks should be on your list next

oh ok i guess that makes sense to start with taking out the smallest ones first i just wasn't sure.

and as far as the clamps that hold the ends of the springs together do those have to stay on or should they be removed?

also i have traction bars with a slight preload to soak up all the axle wrap.

i don't have a rough ride at all i just want to get the truck softer and mostly lower.

hoping someone who is running the 2 or 3 leaf setup will chime in :/

Run 3 leafs in a crew cab, I ran 2 in my LBZ and it was like a pogo stick with 2 leafs.

I run 2 leafs in the reg cab cuz it's light.

The only reason you would run clamps is to stop axle wrap or keep the rear end from squatting upon launch. After yanking the leaves out and put your bars on, they don't do you much good so you may as well ditch them.

I think he is referring to the piece of metal that wraps around the end of the leaf pack on the upper set of leafs, that hold them all together. Idkfs?

Think so too. I would try and bend them back to help locate them. I don't think throwing those clamps out would work out well for a truck driven so much.

DO NOT cut those off. they keep your spring from rotating out and hitting your tires or anything else and also keep you from snapping springs from the pack fanning out.

I will leave them for now if they aren't causing any negative issues. Thanks for all the replies :)

Also did anyone have to run any degree shims afterwards? Any weird vibrations?

Like ive said before, you will have to find a 1/2 ton airbag kit that bolts to the outside of the frame tot he top of the leaf pack, similar to the F250+ firestone kits. You wont find 5000lb rated bags, but 3500 would be plenty, IMO.
