John Deere 15w-40 plus50. I use it because it holds up to 2340 rpm at full power load while hitting power bulge under normal operating conditions all day long. A jd 9870sts has a 13.5 litre engine putting out just over 500 hp and the oil holds up to over 100 hours of use at full power. I have never seen a failed/bad oilScan out of it either. And its cheap:D

Been running the amsoil for 8k now. Seems ok. Maybe I should send in a sample.

FYI: Blackstone labs (google it) will send you a free test kit and also keep track of your results when you send it in everytime. Think the test runs about 20 bucks.

x5 for John Deere+50

I switched to it after an oil discussion on here. The JD+50 is thicker than the Rotella, I saw a slight rise in oil psi and a slight decrease in the amount the pressure will fluctuate. Plus it is a CI rated mineral oil and for convenience it comes in a 2.5gal jug.

Heres what I run In our diesels:
My Truck: Valvoline VR-1 RACE 50w and FS-2500 Bypass and i love it!

JD 770: Amsoil 12TBN 30w, Runs hard all summer long! and some winter use

Mercedes: Mobil Delvac 15w40, too old and worn for syn, so Good dino oil for it, my DD

84 & 89 Ford IDI's: Castrol Tection Extra 15w40, They dont get used much so no need for Delvac and castrol is good stuff

***I'd run Amsoil/Schaffers in the D-max but it dilutes the oil to much so it would cost a fortune to run on that oil and the VR-1 holds up to serious abuse and dilution!***
