What is the best clutch for simply working hard. Engine has a 60hp tune on a 2004, but regularly tow 26,000. Do not race the truck, and drive it easy. looking for longest lasting clutches. C1 clutch is burnt up now.
Any decent performance clutch is going to last just about forever on a tow tune. Is this something your going to try to fix yourself? Maybe Mike will chime in or one of the others with transmission building experience.
I usually run carbonite C1, GPZ C2, and G3 C3/C4. I will be running carbonite C1 and G3 c2/c3/c4 in my tow rig trans to test out the new pattern to see if it still provides the random occasional downshift noise. I've also used the SCZ196 clutches with good results in C3/C4.
Goerend had a ton of C3/C4 frictions come in but I am 99.99999% Marisa said they are all gone now as they had that many orders to fill.
Yes, I plan to build it. Have more experience on stock medium and heavy duty trucks with Allisons. Wasn't sure what to install in this application. Do you have a recommendation on shimming the main regulator valve? Do you have a recommendation for second best if the others are not available? Thank You!
I would just buy a kit from Evan. Inglewood Transmission/ Elevated Ingenuity. If they aren't in stock, wait a bit if you can. Not many people can match his pricing for what you get.
Nowadays any clutches are hard to get. Turn of the year it was C1 clutches now its the C3/C4 friction disks of any type (G3, GPZ, SCZ196 etc). I know Goerend had quite a few SCZ195 for C3/C4 in stock.
