Still waiting on judge to decide on fix approval, got notification in mail today, doubt they will crush them, that would make no sense

got a letter in the mail earlier this week from VW stating that the settlement has been approved and bring my vehicle in for some $$$.

Anyone know if you do not take the buyout are you allowed to keep it.??? Brings up one other problem if you keep it, will the EPA allow it to be licensed seeing how it never passed Federal emissions..???

now i haven't read the official documents myself i am a member of TDIClub and there is some good explanations in the threads there. this is what i know so far

VW has been given the goal of 85% of the cars either fixed or removed from the roads. VW will be fined for each percent or car if the 85% is not met.

if a state takes money from VW as part of this settlement then the state is not allowed to prevent future registration or some other tactic to make you get the fix or turn in your vehicle.

so far a majority of the states have already taken money from VW. not sure on which ones. will look into this

emission testing will not be modified to "fail" or "catch" these vehicles. if the vehicle can pass now there should be no reason it would fail later if you don't get the "fix"

i hope this puts you more at ease ;)

95 geo metro lsi 5 speed, got the big 1.3 4 cylinder making 70 hp. Cost me $685 and got 44 mpg with the stock sized tires. Bumped it up a size so I'm sure it's a little better.

I had one those in high school. The fuel gauge didn't work and I never seen any reason to fix it since she only use $10 in fuel a week or so. I'm surprised you got it that cheap!! People spilled blood for those 5 years ago when fuel prices were high. Sold mine for 2k with ~100k on it.

My DD is a Lesbian Mobile. Subaru Forester XT. Its not the most fuel efficient getting about 23 on mix driving. My commute is only 10 miles and its all freeway at 80mph. I converted it over from an auto to a manual, and put a decent size EFR Turbo on it. Makes right at 500hp on 92 we will see what it does on E85 now that I have flex fuel capabilities. I miss driving the Kodiak tho.

2012 Chevy Volt.

Almost never use gas when near home. ~35 MPG when in gas mode. Used to plug in at the hotels when on the road, but there is too much competition now for the plug, so I don't bother.

The split over the lifetime of the car so far is almost 50/50 between gas and electric mileage.

Neighbors think I'm schizophrenic. Chevy Volt, Pontiac Solstice GXP, and '04 Duramax turned up.

Requires 9lbs of boost, head/intake/tbi swap, and a tech3 cam. Arp headstuds are a plus

Only 9 lol, I'm pretty sure mine is tbi. It's the g13ba engine with the roller cam. I think my engine was only out for like 2 years before they went to the fuel injection.

oh trust me, i know your engine well :D. that engine is the very same that came in suzuki samurais since 1991 and is very very similar to the 86-90 samurai engine. my samurai was a 92 so the very same block/head/tbi/ect.

what i mean is from 91-96, suzuki sidekicks and Geo trackers came with a 1.6 8v TBI engine. the throttle body, injector, intake manifold and head have MUCH more flow to them. the 1.6 injector is a 468cc vs the 424cc injector you have now. TB is a 44mm over the 40mm you have. intake manifold has 3/16" larger runners and ports. head uses the exact same size combustion chamber but has larger intake valve and intake runner. the tech3 cam gives you a lope at idle and is like adding another 2 psi of boost to the engine. it flat makes its come alive across the RPM range.

130hp in my zuk that was pushing toyota axles and 35" tires was way fun over the stock 66hp. i had hit 90mph not trying one day (passing some traffic). it would make that little geo feel like a rocket lol

04 Subaru Forester XT 2.5l turbo. In the midst of bolt ons, it's kinda fun when it's so cheap. It's not very fuel efficient but it's MUCH better on tires than the dually.

'97 tacoma ext. cab 4x4, 300k+ miles, 2.7l 4banger 5spd on 33"s. Averages 22-24mpg mixed. not even enough power to get out of its own way, but a fun little trail rig
