LLY: What is the perfect trans TEMP??

is it bad if it runs a good amount less than that Mike? mine always seems to be between 125 and 150
It can depend on where you live. Mine when stock was around 150 and outside temp 90. Suncoast build put me up to 185degrees running 75mph and air temp of 75. But put on nearly 1000 mile and may be running more cooler. Will know tomorrow. run to Chicago tomorrow and see what 75mph does.

The question I believe was optimum temps so first thing I thought of is racing along with everything else. I think a racing trans would be best served at 175F and would be close to being optimum for everything else. My Alli stays at 150/180 all the time. The only time I would demand 175 would be for racing.
~100* over ambient is a good general rule for trans fluid temp in my own opinion...
at least thats what mine has always run and it has over 100,000 miles on it of 550+ rwhp since I built it 4 years ago.

That's where mine sits all the time as well, except for the occasion when I'm in traffic and not being nice, then it'll go a bit higher, but that's not often. As long as it's around that area, I don't worry much. The main problem with high fluid temps is fluid breakdown, which is less of an issue if you're using a full synthetic such as Transynd.
