Yes, they apparently use a drill on a jack. Pop out the two bolts on the flange. Battery powered reciprocating saw to chop through the exhaust and within a few minutes they are in and out.

This is hopefully to make them take too long or make too much noise so they don't attempt it

I thought of that but there was a few areas in the tunnel that was a little bit tight so we decided to put them on the bottom. The Prius forums also had a few mention that the idiots didn't notice there bars or chain, etc and started cutting them out only to give up once they hit the anti theft stuff. This will hopefully keep them from even trying. I guess welding up a few cuts is a lot better than having to replace it again because it was too easy to get at

Some real ingenious welder could split a pipe and weld it back to gather over the connecting tube. When said person tries to cut it with a grinder the pipe spins, if you cannot get at it with both hands, you cannot stop the pipe from spinning and will have difficulty in getting through it.

Yeah we realized we missed that opportunity once I had everything welded up. Should have added a sleeve that would rotate when one would try and cut it

Hindsight is always 20/20. It's still possible just a lot more difficult now. Next one will be much better b/c all of his friends will want it done to their's next. then you could add a bar across the top and the sleeve.

Well of and on since monday morning, been back feeding the house from portable generator. This cold weather winter storm has done its toll on us. Went over 36 hrs straight with out grid power. Got lucky and we started getting grid power yesterday. Not real consistent, and it appears its a rolling blackout status still.

Today I filled the camper (40 gallon min) fresh water tank, and 55 gallon barrel in back of truck since water pressure dropped below 20 earlier when power was out.

Last night lost power for less than 1 hr, fingers crossed that the grid has stabilized somewhat and rolling blackouts are limited to the 1 hr promised before this hit. Another cold snap expected to hit later this week with temps into the upper 20's.

Well 10p last night (Thursday) noticed temp in house was dropping. bundle up (it like 30f outside) and head into the attic. Found igniter for the furnace was cracked. Removed, brought down, attempted repair by wire jumping the crack, only made things worse.
8:30 Fri morning start making calls to find part, its 45 minutes from me, so off I go. Back home by 10a, part installed and up and running by 10:30 including cleaning up the rats nest of connections that the AC guys did originally.

It has been a long road since September when all this started but we are finally in our new house. Just about got my garage in order and ready for fabbing. Need to change the 50 amp plugs to 3 prong to match my machines and put the compressor on casters so I can wheel it outside when I use it (I just don’t like the idea of 150psi in an old 80 gal tank right next to me). Detach shop is in n hold right now as I’m not paying the retarded prices for steel or lumber. Garage should serve me well for now lol. Might even put an a/c split unit in there. It’s fully insulated.

Not to get to personal but how many units do you plan on running? Lasts I checked 1 outside unit could be split multiple ways.

That's it. Just the four. Maybe down the road I may put another in on the other side of the house.

While you are correct in that one condenser could run multiple zones. It does come with some drawbacks. One, is how far down it can throttle. The compressors can only drop down to somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-40% of full load. 2nd, all zones have to be on the same heating or cooling or in a waiting status (essentially off). Even when some zones are off some of the refrigerant still flows through them due to the compressor still running to satisfy the remaining zones. This can cause over heating or over cooling of the zones. Even when the fans are off some radiated heat or cooling can be felt coming from the evaporator.

Running multiple condensers deals with smaller zones better because when not needed they can actually be fully off. Each zone can be set to it's own mode with heating or cooling without effecting the others.

In my attempt to satisfy each bedroom and living room temperature requirements. I found that a multi zone unit was going to be problematic. So I went with multiple condensers to deal with the issues

I get it. What works in 1 house can't work for all. Which is why I have looked into mini splits to replace my current unit. Good to know on the drawbacks part. One thing I could never understand is natural flow will only allow so much of a difference between rooms that are close together. IE bedroom 1 can't be 70* while right next door bedroom 2 is 65* unless doors are closed. I can understand conditioning rooms on opposite ends of the the house or different levels inside a house.

I might just look into 2 condensers with 2 evaps on each as opposed to 1 with 4 on it.

Living room cassette installed. Line set hooked up. System vacuumed down and charged. Temp power ran for testing. So far so good. Kept the room cool all day. Only drew about 3 amps at 240v during the hotest time of day to maintain the temp. Right now it is drawing one amp to keep the room cool as it is cooler outside
