Took the week off to work on my C10 and other projects that never seem to get done.

Sales are slow right now so not much going on at work. Drove out to the ranch last night and had a little white smoke coming from the exhaust in the LB7 tow rig. looks like my truck is making oil :( so far today at work have been pricing out injectors.

Not today but been crazy busy at work 65-80 a week because reduced traffic makes it safer for us to work on the interstate.

Drove 157,000 lbs of Grove crane today, this thing is a hotrod. Mercedes 600hp and 12 speed automatic. 55mph all she's got but it drives better than my 3rd gen Cummins

How do these compare to the Liebherr? Not an operator but flag all of them. Just wondering they work for the operator.

Automatic? What's makes the trans so unique?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

They were called Fordamatic back then. They evolved into the cast iron Cruisematic. Later evolved into the FMX. Just an old automatic from the 50's and 60's. I started in this business in '66. Seen a lot of changes. Kept up with all of them to this day. Been a good ride.:thumb::D

Modern "Techs" are just parts changers. Mike is a "TRUE MECHANIC" as he can diagnose, take apart, fix or replace the one thing wrong, put it back together, AND IT WORKS RIGHT.

While there are a few good young mechanics out there, they are few and far between. Most probably don't even know how to check the gap on plugs as they come preset in the box now.

While not as cool as that bad ass concrete pumper, or that little Grove, I did use a crane yesterday to do a big pick.

Practicing safe social distancing, or at least that's what all my buddies claimed, when I ask them to come help set off this 300lb engine hatch.

Before the crane arrived, I backed the boat into the deck on my house and busted a 2x12.. That one at least got the wife to come outside and yell at me.. Pretty much a normal day...

Was being a smart ass most of today.

Example: Delivered a dutch oven to a younger couple. I asked if they watched the movie Deadpool (yes), so I asked, "I wonder if this is endorsed by Meredeth Baxter Birney?" Guffaws from the husband ensued....:roflmao: The wife was

Google Redline rebuilds. How I rebuilt my thunderbird transmission. It's on Youtube.
The guy doing it is pretty messy. Never got it clean enough. Doubt it worked the first time around.
