Washed this tractor today.
I drove this tractor home about 7 miles away when I was 14 years old with dad following me. He didn’t use it, it sat in the shed until I was about 19-20 years old (43 now) and got the fever to restore it. He saw where I was going with it and gave it to me. It’s the only thing I have I wouldn’t sell. It’s a 1949, the same year he was born. Our son (7) has been after me to get it out so we can ride it. I figured with it being Father’s Day weekend it was a good time. My parents came by yesterday and I got a picture of my dad and my kids on it.
It hasn’t been washed in at least 4 years.

That's a nice service truck. I've been trying to convince or fleet supervisor we need cranes on our shop truck but they think we have no use for them.
We sometime rig the radiator to the front knuckle on the boom to lift them up out. The terex looks a little simpler or i guess more open then our Altec stuff is. I'll be doing a boom inspection maybe tomorrow I'll get a picture or 2.

Problem using the boom to lift it unless it has a electric hydrsulic pump then running the engine isnt an option when removing the radiator because of the trans cooler. Already lose a gallon doing the replacement.
A crane is possibly the most useful tool. I didn't have one before and i couldn't do my job without it. This truck is mine and ive been on my own for almost 3 years. I do a good amount of altec booms also. This crane is just strong enough to hold the booms up to r and r the lift cylinders. Anything bigger i need a digger .

I used an engine hoist to R&R the cooling stack.. parked the FL60 close enough to a wall to lean the hood against
Got a nasty hole to set a grease trap in. My first day on the site I was asking where the well point is to lower the water table. They want to try it without one. I’m 30’ in the ground. You don’t dig that deep in Houston without a well point. I got the hole dug and shoring in but my pumps where over come with silt and water.

Don't lift them with the boom itself. Just rig up a strap hoist to the boom. I personally work through the grill opening with hood still on. I take the intercooler off, swing the ac condenser and unbolt the fan shroud and lift them out by hand. Just set them off over to the side then move to the wheel opening and lift her out.
I've done quite a few lift cylinders using our digger. We have a track digger that all remote control that works really good if you can get your hands on it when you need it. We have a multi year agreement with Altec that we'll purchase everything through them.
Was it hot as Fuk up there as well today? Ha, it was ridiculously hot here, had to service a pair of F300's in the water. Yea for me...
