Finally got the tunes close on the new triple setup . Took it to Friday Night Drags at Texas Motorspeed Way . No times just arm drop but they did clock it at 110 MPH at the finish line . Problem is for the 2nd time, 2nd converter it took out the bearing in the converter . Same symptoms as the first one. Nice run on the 1st run but the truck never left right on the next run and trans got hot . When it shows that does the ECM pull the power ? Cause that is what it felt like big time . This run was against a Toyota SBC on slicks. The Goerend LL has tuning hits on it and 4-5 track runs on it . It's lifetime warranty so I'm pulling it and sending it back for warranty.for clarification the 1st converter was a precision that was tug welded and had a Goerend billet stator added to it by my local converter shop . It would only brake stall to 2200 or so . When I had it checked the bearings were gone in it but easily fixed. Took the opportunity to go to the Goerend LL with more stall . So what to do to keep a converter in it ? Any suggestions . Leave with less boost off the line ? With Precision at 2200 I was at 15# and with Goerend at 3100 I was at 30--40#.https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.clark.7792/posts/10209016384719610

I'm not sure why it's tearing up the bearings or if it's a common issue with triples . I was lead to believe that the less efficient converter would not put as much stress on the stator and bearing assembly. At this point I'm gonna call Goerend to see if they have a fix . I have to send it back anyway . My setup spools very quick . Even with old converter only stalling to 2200 with 15# , as soon as I cut it loose it just rockets from that 15# easy . Were you running compounds or triples? Are you talking about an ML converter or Precision ?

So Evan please tell me what converters you guys killed. I'm guessing your referring to Mike Grave's truck ?

You word your response like that and expect a answer...lol. Im referring to more then his truck. In my opinion Georend sells excellent converters but nothing has done what the 31 has that is all. Have fun and good luck with the build its going to be a runner.

No pun intended just not crazy about continuing to drop it out again and again . Just looking for insight from someone that has been there and done that hence the thread. Not throwing stones at anybody not my style . Not all converters match all combinations . Just wanting to know what has worked best for my type of setup . I just want something that's been proven to hold up . Thanks for the info. I wasn't asking you to bash any brand of converter etc. Perhaps KILLED was the word to use .

I have been there and done that with a similar setup. Others commenting haven't even been close to what your setup is capable of and run numbers with a stripped race truck that full weight street trucks run non issue. Look at numbers and the amount passes made and make your decision from there. Again Georend is a top converter builder but....only one has done what we need and on a level that wasn't even close to others.

1053-1 in my full weight crew cab running mid 10's for a year and a half and 11,000 street miles. Zero issues. Truck trapped 135mph at 7000lbs. 1053-1 is the only converter I recommend for high hp trucks. I actually bought that converter from Evan :thumb:
