Any updates Chad . Is all good . What was the leak from ?

Johnny

All is well. The leak was a damaged oil cooler, took the one off the old motor and replaced it, no leaks, no codes. Had a little white smoke, but it was just burining off oil residue in the exhaust system and it went away last night. Drove it in this morning and all the smoke was gone, just black now. It Feels good to be driving my own truck again.

Guy's this has been an interesting ride, the motor is in, running nicely and no apparent problems. I wish I had the time to build the motor, but this way I could still drive my truck while I work on building it.

I got to tell you the hardest part of this was the stupid motor mounts, the nice worker at the assembly plant really didn't want the motor mount bolts to come loose, so he added about 5 gallons to each bolt, not even heating them up did the trick. Mikes truck was not like this at all. We got 1 of 6 bolts out without breaking:mad:. One trick we did learn was to raise the cab up a bit to ease the motor in, that one move made it so we didn't struggle getting the oil pan over the differential. We considered taking that out, but raising the cab is alot easier, just remember to disconnect the steering shaft...

On both mine and Mikes we have removed and stored the trans, I am not sure if it is necessary, but it sure makes it easier to work on, and it only takes an hour to remove it.

I feel sorry for the guys that have to do this without a lift, having one sure makes it alot easier. Not having to crawl on the floor for anything is worth the price of admission.

The next hardest thing was r&ring the stupid oil cooler and piping, can't get it off without taking the manifold off, tried everyway but loose, to get it ut without taking it off, but in the end, the 20 minutes to take it off was worth the ease of installing the cooler pipe. That one move cost me $110 worth of fluids and 3 hours of time, a mistake I won't make again.

Yah we just took the 2 long arse bolts on each side, Lift would have helped oh well and we left the tranny in the truck just unbolted it and removed the converter bolts. we just left a jack under it.

Same here. Just put a cargo strap under the trans and in front of the converter. Diff didn't cause any problems either.

We did that, but the new motor didn't come with mounts so we had to remove them to put them on the new motor.

Motor was out in a day, and back in in one day. Just took half the next day to put the intercooler, radiator, fan shroud and fan and grille and bumper back on. With only Alex working on it for 80% of the time, I don't think that is to bad...
