Got a weird one for this thread fellas. Happened three times since February
Including once this morning. Driving to work the radio shut off then half the gauge cluster follows suit. Odd thing is ac will stay on and rpms and tach will function. Loss of shift indicator as well. About a minute or so later everything’s normal. Now the last time it happened I pulled over shit the truck off and tried to restart it it wouldn’t restart just crank and the door locks wouldn’t unlock.

I’m leaning towards the pioneer radio causing it it didn’t do this before I put the new radio in. Just curious if anyone else has this issue. Not really a concern for me unless the truck itself shuts off

I have a video of it happening, won’t let me upload it though. I was thinking the radio itself seeing a lot of functions go through it to work, my second thought was the ignition switch as well

Why do I keep doing this?

Did you add any of the modules needed to keep the OEM radio functions when you installed the aftermarket one?

I would be leaning towards a missing or bad door chime module. Put the factory radio back in and see if the issues come up. The radio itself shouldn't be able to cause the issues described. I've seen missing or failed modules make these trucks do strange things.

I would check to make sure all your fuses are getting good connection. Mainly the ECM fuses. I had the same issue on mine several years ago. Different symptoms but my cluster did funny things and the a/c compressor wouldn’t kick on. Chased that problem for months until I finally found the bad fuse connection.

I put a new ignition switch an ac Delco one, it did it the next day poked around the fuse box
And all looks clean pulled the box out itself and no chewed wires or such
I’m thinking BCM. So I’m just poking around eBay there’s several up for sale I have a picture of mine for reference. Part numbers are the same, but the bottom numbers are something I know nothing about some of the digits are the same. Then maybe the last for don’t match up.
I know I’ll need a module that is programmed for everything I have pw pl ps ect
Any insight on this one would be helpful

If you find a BCM out of a vehicle with similar options you can just do the relearning process

Take a close look at the large bale connectors. I had a similar problem and found a few pins not protruding out all the way and making contact

Being it's lb7, check for moisture or corrosion at the canbus [2 wires twisted] bridge in bottom drivers kick pannel area. Possibly under carpet there.

I know that was issue which causes weird gauge, radio, or no start issues on those trucks. Caused by moisture collecting off wet boots, poodles in the area where those canbus wires all come together. My GM buddy fixed a bunch of em over the years.

^^ i think I remember something about that. Wasn't the "fix" just removing the padding so moisture couldn't collect there?

There is a bulletin on it. Look for poodles while in there... And yeah I think the padding holding water is that issue.

Just unplug and inspect the connectors, spray contact cleaner, and a little grease on em.
