Weight capacity on SRW

Just drove from jersey to South Carolina. No sooner do I pull in my parking lot I blew the valve stem right out of the rim. Talk about luck ... I was just doing 70 for 15 hours. Pin weight of my trailer is 3450 and about 500lbs of fuel. I know I just heard DRW from all of ya. I just hate to get rid of this truck!!!! I will say that they were the original valve stems and why the hell are they car stems and not the fat truck stems!!! After seeing how fast that tire went down I can't help but think that's just touch weight for a SRW??????? Help I love my truck!!! Any thoughts ???

not much more than a 2500HD both being SRW..9900-10000
i always ran bolt in steel valve stems for that very reason... anything over 45psi is "supposed" to have steel tubed stems. glad it didnt turn out worse

not much room for improvement on single whell trucks, best bet is to weigh the combo and see what the axle weights are then compare them to what your GVWR should be.

Don't 19.5" rims require a heavier duty stem? Thought I read that somewhere?

Also, what was the weight capacity of the tire itself, I'm not sure that has anything to do with it, but you'd think a higher rated tire would have a higher rated stem? Mine are screw in and my tire is rated at 4080lbs srw...

Anything that runs over 80psi has steel stems either bolt on or screw into the rim.. Is commercial tires don't have pul through stems

I can't believe it myself these are original pull rubber stems with brass sleeves.

That would be why they went boom. Even my 50psi max street tires have high pressure stems in them.

Can you get the GCWR increased, legally on a truck (by the DMV I assume) if you upgraded to DRW, or would it just be a matter of taking your chances, if you were over sticker gross?

I have read (on the internet, so it has to be true, right?) that the rear ends of the 2500 and 3500 are the same. Is THAT true? I could see GM going heavier axles and brakes though.

Just ordered a set if rickson wheels and 19.5 14 ply tires. This combo should be the hot ticket for handling the weight on the tires and also stability. Defiantly won't be a dually but should work for the weight im carrying
