Hey guys! Hoping someone can post up some pics of their weight box. Looking for some ideas for mounting it to the frame and wondering what would be strong enough to hold the box up without bending. Thanks!

Slide it into the frame where the tow hooks are mounted. Easiest way to mount and the frame is plenty strong in this area.
That's where my weights went but it bent. Wondering what guys are using that slides into the frame that's string enough?
7-800lbs. Last weight bar was 3x3 and didn't last. We reinforced it so it's good now but I'm going with a weight box now instead of just a bar.
I'd suggest using a bottle jack under the weights while trailering it. Thats when they bend mostly. .5x4 flatbar is twisted pretty good now from bouncing up and down on the trailer with 1400#
My cross member is bent. Anybody have this problem? I thought about pounding an 1/4 wall pipe into the crossmember but its a funny size ID.
One time last year I had 25 100lb plates on my old rack plus me and my friend both stood and bounced on it to make sure it didnt fall off when i went down the track and it didnt budge. It was 3x3 notched to fit under the crossmember.
Mine is notched too. It bent the pipe crossmember alittle bit hauling it one night on a rough road. Very dumb, full 1400 weights on the bracket, truck bounced on the trailer, wasnt tied down by weight rack just the a arms, pintle hitch, empty dumptruck. About the worse riding haul I've ever been on. Since then since its weaker and weaker every pull and i have to keep adding shims to the to top side of where I notched out to go under the crossmember. I'm thinking 2 1/8 would work fine, just heat up the crossmember and slug it in there with a hammer. I just dont think I could find 2 1/8 od tube. 2 in would be kinda "rigged" in there but I guess it would still be tight. I could drill and tap the bottom of the rack to use the factory bolt holes in the frame for the bottom bolt of the tow hooks. Right now its just pinned in the side holes.

I cut out some pieces of angle iron that go on before the bolts go in. Kinda hard to explain but it is about 8" long and helps support the frame where the bolts go in
I was thinking the same. Angle would work better but I was just gonna use flat bar. Kinda like a big washer for the lower bolts.

Mine goes across the bottom and up to the side bolts and is notched out around the cross member. It helped a lot. I will get a pic later of it.
It was also not just pinned in. It was bolted from through the frame in the front and the rear was also bolted up from the bottom.
Mine was notched to slide in like everyone else has said. We blocked it up on the trailer but bent the tube slightly on a test launch.:roflmao: I also drilled a second hole in the frame behind the main holes for the tow hooks so it would actually hold the weight rather than it resting against that tube. Not sure if it is the best way but it worked and held about 1600 lbs without issue.
if you put round tubing inside the square tubing it will help. make sure you have a jack or something under the weight bar going down the road on the trailer.
