Weight box in bed

I hate to start another thread so close to another but this is a completely different topic, I'm looking for anyone who has put a weight box in the bed of their truck for workstock pulling. My truck weight 7k lbs with me in it, maybe 7100 with the spare and tailgate on. I can weigh as much as 8500 pounds, and have a good friend that pumps concrete. He said a cubic yard of the stuff he pumps is 3600 lbs so I will just make some cement blocks in 100-150 lb increments to load in the bed.

Now the question:
I plan on welding up a large weight box to put the concrete in so it stays in place, but I don't want to end up with a bent bed with all the weight in one small area. So, should I brace the weight box and weld it to the frame, or just bolt it to the bed and call it a day? And where should I place the box? Over the rear axle or as far forward as possible?

Sorry should have stated, I'm pulling workstock and they don't allow weights anywhere besides the bed...

I don't have any pics but:

A lot will be determined by what you are going to use for ballast (tractor weights, lead bricks, cement blocks, stone, roofing shingles, etc.) as to the dimensions and requirements for in bed box/rack. I've seen some pretty nice bed mounted weight racks (same purpose just different location as a front rack)

Some guys build boxes/racks that make it easy to add/remove weight whether it be at a pull or after the pull (to make room in the bed for day to day use) so it's more for ease of handling vs getting every ounce of weight forward. That is fine, but if you want the best bang for weight advantage, you want it as close to the headboard as possible. Go verticle (stacking) as much as feasibly possible (again your ballast size/shape will dictate some of what can and can't be done) against the headboard. Furthur forward the better. If you have room to go side to side, I always favored the driver's side slightly too. Some times a compromise between the two happens for logistics.

Hope this helps some.

Suitcase weights under the back seat pass side floor board. Lol I'd think close to the front of the bed possible... do not trust a ratchet strap to hold them in either. Lol seen more then a few break an destroy the tailgate

I had 800lbs of weight that bolted under the front end like a skid plate, a very long, wide, and heavy skid plate. I used it at some NHDRA pulls as well as a couple ITPA pulls, never had anyone complain. The plate was 400lbs, and it had a 400 lb steel roll that tucked in behind the front bumper.
