My truck is in need of a water pump. Finally tracked down my coolant smell to a leaking pump. It came with a warranty when I got it so I can get any kind of pump I want paid for. What's best? Go with another GM pump or a lifetime warranty one from like AutoZone or somewhere?

I used a delco figured that the first one last over a hundred thousand miles so the second should be good for the same.

We run the GM plastic impeller one as even the welded ones have been known to break.

Same hear. I have never had a pump issue with any of them though. 1 k HP is known to be tough on parts so I switched to the plastic impeller one.

I used a napa one and welded the shafts, haven't had any problems to date.

Keep an eye on it. The Napa waterpump on my truck, along with 4 others that I know of, are leaking oil out of the weep hole. I'm not sure if there was a bad batch, but they were all replaced last winter within a few months of each other. I'll be contacting Mr. Broviak for one of his pinned Delco pumps in the near future.

Strange...Ive got 5 years on my NAPA pump with no issues whatsoever. Maybe they went with a different supplier?

Yeah Tom, I'm blaming it on a manufacturing defect. They're probably made in China now. 3 of the other trucks were changed and no more leaks.

Unfortunately I dont think even NAPA is immune to the cheapening of replacement parts to make a buck.
