Wastegate on Intake Side?

I was going through some pictures of the NHRDA World Finals and I saw a wastegate on the intake side between two turbo's in a twin setup. I was wondering what they would do that for? Would it be to regulate the boost #'s rather than regulating the exhaust? I was just curious and haven't heard or seen of a similar setup.

People with huge turbos on gassers do this sometimes also. Use CO2 to open the wastegate and allow the turbo shaft speed to really get cranking without any load on the compressor side. Then close the gate and have boost quicker.

Here is a BOV on the CAC pipe of a 6.4 powerstroke. Looks just like a wastegate

its a wastegate its simply controlling max boost and how boost comes on on the compressor side so instead of gating the turbine and reducing spool up in some cases and hard to control it does the compressor side procharger guys have been doing it for years on gas engines
