PS - Cool Lakester! The GT 35 is about the size of your factory charger, which is a wastegated IHI, set to about 20PSI max with stock tuning. You can push your stock charger to about 550hp on diesel fuel, and about 30 PSI. Push it past 34, and it will grenade in time.

Kat,

That explains alot...:joker:

I have been online since about 8 this morning on and off....

Seems more like off than on judging by my mistakes...

McRat, the car is a Roadster...we have two both with bike engines, one is a gas Modified roadster and the Red car is a rear engine modified Roadster..

What would be the cost to install (OTD) for the LBZ pump if I had GM just do the injectors and later the problem was still occuring?

At this point I do not think I want to turn up the HP since it is not only a daily driver 30+ miles it is also our tow rig..any ideas on whats safe..anyone...anyone...?

PS. we have been known to pull a small trailer sometimes..:D

DOH!!! Roadster! :D

Your truck has about 245rwhp as delivered.

Adding 65rwhp is considered safe for both the engine and trans based on the experience of thousands of trucks and millions of miles. You won't need to dink with CP3 to add 65, it's 3 minutes with a tuner, no other changes required. Very noticeable difference. Not subtle. Most the guys on this board are turned up past 500hp.

That's why my advice is somewhat jaded. Many folk upgrade their CP3 if it blows, and many of us run two of them in parallel to go past 600hp.

But don't turn it up. Most of those who say, "OK, I'll just add a little tow tune and stop" cannot, and we are lost. We know pretty well what fails, and when, from personal experience, yet we keep going.

Yeah the truck can be tuned up with a hipertech programmer I hear (friend has one and when he sells his truck he said I could have it) however I need this truck for hauling/towing and it needs to get semi decent mileage during the week as it is Michelle's daily driver..

We wanted to use this engine however found out it was just a bit too large..

So we installed it in a 40' bus conversion..

Well we have an update at this time:

I have spoken to customer service (GM) and explained how we had taken the vehicle in a few times complaining of the decreased mileage and also the abnormal smoking and had been informed that it was not a problem...well we will see what happens tomorrow and since the truck is paid off if Chevy will not cover it we may just sell and buy a new one...it might even be a Chevy...

Hopefully they will take care of it since we had brought it to them several times complaining about the smoking and ever-worsening fuel mileage.

Smoke at idle is usually injectors and is usually covered by GM. See 1 and 2 in my sig.
Lose of power/speed...the first thing I would do is change the fuel and Allison spin-on filters.

So the allison can be fitted with an after-market filter? ?

How long has it been since the stock one has been changed?

Same with the fuel filter as well? ?

J

You can run a 2nd one.
How long since the fuel filter has been changed? Change it first, since you might have gotten a bad tank of fuel and it could be clogged.

Just insuring that they were getting changed. We see lots of people that don't even know they have a tranny or fuel filter that needs regular changing.

Yea...my local dealer wants $93 for a set of filters (oil, fuel and allison)

Well we heard from GM yesterday and they stated they would not cover anything other than the injectors..took them almost a week to answer and all they state is "the vehicle is now no longer under warrantee" so no cost assistance nothing.

I explain that we took the truck to the dealer a few times for other service and mentioned rough running, smoking etc however the service writer never entered the information in to the computer so Chevy has no records of any problem...yesterday the service writed emailed us a statement that he remembers us bringing the vehicle in on at least 2 occasions for the issues above however they cannot be related to the injection pump..

So I will call GM again today and see if I can get anywhere...if we have to pay full pop to fix this and now the truck is not under warrantee Michelle will go buy a new one...our neighbor has a Ford that he takes offroad, pulls a trailer with and beats the crap out of and has never had a problem....

I will post the results later...
