How much power have you guys made with stock turbo,cp3, and injectors?

I made 495hp 977tq this fall and was just waundering if it would be worth spending more money on tuning to get more power or if I should save my money for now until I could afford more air/fuel.

What sould I do next, more air or more fuel?

Thanks :thumb:

You might have 30-40 more horse on the table with just changes in tuning. However, I have seen 750 wheel with stock turbo, CP3, and injectors with aggressive tuning/trans/water-meth/nitrous. Unless you are interested in looking into injectables then you have almost maxed out your options with stock air and fuel. BTW that setup didn't last too long.

Assuming your cp3 is in good condition, you don't need more fuel. You may be able to squeeze a little more power out of your components, but as Steve said, air is the next major hurdle holding you back...

Remember that all dynos read differently. Its a good tool for testing, but not so useful for comparing numbers with other trucks on other dynos.

That would be my plan as I tow my camper all summer. The only thing I thought is that maybe I would put a bigger turbo on now to twin/triple:D with later.

I know, I really need to get to the track to see what it really has....

I'm on Tapatalk and can't see what's in your sig. But a trans, lift pump, cai, exhaust and efi love should get you some where in the mid 500 range.

Who tunes your truck?

That is currently what is done to the truck.

Who tunes your truck?

That is part of the problem. I get them from a guy out of Canada thru a local guy. I don't have direct contact. The local guy is busy and although he is a good guy he dose it on the side and it can take awhile to get things done.

Oh ok... Maybe your next upgrade should be a tuner from this forum then. Mid 500 to the wheels should be obtainable with the basics.

At 160,000 i installed my new IIS366 and im so glad i did, bushings were going in my turbo and the wheel just started to dust off the housing. So glad the motor didnt swallow the turbo.I dont know how many miles you have on your turbo but if your going to stay with the stocker keep an eye on it when you start to get up there in miles, you'll have to have it rebuilt at somepoint and id rather put that money towards a new turbo and something that twins very nicly like the 366 also i would talk to Bob BO-BO about some tuning from him he got alot more out of my truck just my 2 cents

That is the route I've been loooking into on both ideas. Just not sure if it would be worth the money to have bobo retune my truck with the way it is already. For 30+ hp I would spend the money, but for anything less I'm not sure it would be worth it.

There are plenty of guys with A built trans and stock tricks that are upwards of 550 at the wheels. So getting it retuned could easily be more than a 30hp difference. I would be disappointed if I spent money on tuning and only got 495.

What other tricks would I need to do? Or do you think with just tuning I could get that? Do anyone tuners guarantee hp numbers? Everyone I talk to says "450 plus" fwiw the other trucks that day with setups close to mine didn't do over 520. I want to say like 505 and 510 where the highest if I remember correctly.

run the stock turbo, bump the fueling up and spray the piss out of it

I thought about that, and would look into it but I don't know anyone local that has experiance with it to help me. Also that won't help with towing.

I really liked my HTT as a single. It was a great turbo for adding more power, and it was a fantastic turbo for towing....and it is a great base for adding twins or triples. :thumb:

Do an HTT, or some other S366 turbo and a lift pump and you should be set for a while. The lift pump will really help out your CP3.

I don't think they will guarantee hp numbers. But there are some really good tuners on this forum. I'm sure they would be very willing to help you out.

As far as tricks go... Just get a lift pump and you should be fine. Water methanol kits are pretty helpful as well. They are great for towing. They reduce egt's, give you a couple more mpg's and add quite a bit of power. ~30-50 HP.
I have a meth kit that I'm thinking about selling.

What should you lookout for when buying a used turbo? I know someone on here is looking at replacing their 366 with a 47X and was thinking if he put it up for sale that I would look into gettting it. Anyone else have one that they are thinking about replacing?
