German companys are goin in the same direction. I work for thyssen krupp elevator, which is German based, we have more safety policies than any American elevator company.
Yes rob that's a different point that somewhat supports mine. You work in the usa for a german company not in Germany. The usa is the one with all of the laws. German companies are smart and determined. They are very detail oriented and not lazy. Other American companies may complain and get grandfathered or be very lax on rules, the Germans just do what is needed to meet the laws.
Myself being mostly German as well as my entire family on one side being full blooded German, and through some observations of the country, I feel Germans biggest flaw is their reason for success. Very stubborn, strict and controlling.
I guess I just always feel them, and many other European companies just seem light years ahead of us. Seems like they have everything figures out while we are struggling with power struggles, laziness and overall disorganization.
GM was the worlds largest automaker by volume last year. Their profits were 7.6 billion. VW was the largest by profit though at 25.8 billion. How? Their vehicle pricing is generally a little higher on some brands, but the actual VW cars are a very good deal. You get what you pay for. Attention to detail, scrutinized quality control, high quality cars.
My 2000 Jetta is tighter and quieter than my gfs 2006 mustang.
Control freaks really.describes Germany to me. Take Claas for example. They make forage equipment. They have the.most sales of forage harvesters world wide. In the US we have john Deere, krone, Claas and new Holland as the big 4. We had a Deere. While it is built in Germany, it doesn't carry that German engineering.
Claas is owned by a woman and her heirs. They make all of their own parts. They need quality.and specific parts. They don't sacrifice. They do partner with trusted company's such as Daimler and linde. Their units typically run more than $100,000 more that I comparable Deere units, even with that big of a price difference, the quality and productivity is worth it. Everywhere you look on the machine you see a little idea here and there. Everywhere on the Deere you were left wondering why did they do it this way.
I think the Germans, while controlling, allow a lot more opinions into their designs. Americans like to think its their way it the highway, it shows in their products. They also won't admit defeat. Deere would always tell us that ours was the only chopper breaking.a at the meetings for our Claas they dont.skate around anything. They come out and say here's where.we screwed up and why, heres how to fix it. Often times at no charge.
Same goes for Fendt versus the us tractors.
Heck rob I'm sure you've got a pair of knipex somewhere. Can't even explain the quality built into each pair of them Nd reasonably priced.
They listen. They give people what they want but refuse the sacrifice quality. Its the main reason they have built the image of the highest quality. Made in Germany ranks above made in USA to many people in any sort of mechanical world. Made in japan is right up there too sometimes beating USA. Other European countries such as Sweden and italy have a name that goes with quality as well.
