Well, my wife killed her Mustang yesterday, so we're looking for a replacement. On the top of the list is a TDI Jetta, but in doing some research, it looks like everything after 04 has a freaking DPF. The '10 Jetta's are really nice, but like with the DMax, I REALLY don't want the DPF. Does anyone know anything about their reliability, and maybe a way to yank the stupid thing?
If the Jetta doesn't pan out, next on the list is pretty much anything GM (as far as I'm concerned) since I've got the tools to diagnose & fix just about anything that could go wrong with it.
Oh, BTW, Toyota's are JUNK! I still have NO clue how the TOY got so much damage so high up and far back with my Wife's mustang having so little visable damage. Considering that impact was almost definatley unde 35MPH, I would NOT want to be in one for a higer speed/direct frontal impact . Underneath, the PS crumple "joint" is partially collapsed, other than that, the bumper (not the cover, but the actual bumper underneath) appears to be virtually unscathed, near as I can tell without removing the cover, the core support is pushed back and over, so the entire front end is about 2-3" out of place. I'm fully expecting it to be written off with the front end being "tweaked" the way it is and the airbags deployed.
