Don't see how they would "turn off" the egr/dpf/urea on those lol

I do believe Malone tuning can tune the new ones? Not sure. Vinny would know for sure.

I had a 2011 TDi, it was an awesome little car! I had a Rawtek stg2 exhaust, HPA stg2 DSG tuning and Malone stg2 ECM tuning. That little diesel ripped after those mods...

I don't know WTF they are talking about in that article....there is no way to turn off, block or otherwise "bypass" the catalyst OR the DPF, I guess VW could "could have" input those "complex algorithms" into their tuning to shut down the EGR, but why the fak would they do that? My car would go into regen mode pretty frequently before the tuning and mods, I just don't see this as a plausible

seriously, my TDi had TWO EGR systems on it, a high pressure and a low pressure, why would VW spend the money on that sh!t if they were going to bypass it in their tuning? and if they bypassed the system thru tuning, then why would there be so many issues with the EGR systems failing on these cars?

Sorry, but this just doesn't make any sense to me...
The conspiracy here would be, if VW knew their emissions system was junk and tuned it out under certain perimeters to preserve the emissions equipment to last beyond the warranty period...

she gets around 27 mpg at 97 mph :happy2:

On a 800mi trip with just me and the kid, my tuned TDi got 54mpg@70mph
:thumb:

with the hatch full of luggage, two kids and car seats , and me and my bro, the stock exhaust and un-tuned TDi w/stg1 HPA DSG tune got 36mpg avg on a 1300mi trip...I blamed the low mpg on that trip due to the climb up the continental divide but it didn't change on the way back so then we figured it had to be because of the weight in the hatch, it made the rake of the vehicle reversed and aerodynamics were sh!t cuz the front was pitched up

For the category, they really are an excellent car

My old '01 gets 51.5 on the highway and I don't drive it the nicest!! These things get amazing mileage. I've been thinking about upgrading to an 09-10 though.

Volkswagen has already admitted to actively bypassing emissions. They're pretty screwed!

NO SH!T?
I gotta look into that, that's crazy!
the TDi, and the TDi/Golf combo got the "world car of the year award" a few years in a row IIRC...if they were fudgin the emissions statement/standards/equipment during that time, I can't imagine the backlash

According to VW they admit having a "defeat device" on the cars. I've read that when it pans out the epa may go for criminal prosecution because this was intentional.
