iirc n/a vehicles run approx .9 seconds slower up here according to the NHRA resource for this sort of thing. Seems to be about right when watching stock cars run up here. And of course that can vary a little depending on weather, wind, density altitude etc.

A stock 99 viper gts is rateded at 12.5 in the 1/4. At atlitude the best that car will run is a 13.3-13.4. So him being nice on the car and not burning his tires of 14.1 isn't bad at all.

I agree.. It's a real wake up call for some people when they are used to racing sea level tracks to run at altitude.

There are also some tracks that are just faster then others. The fastest tracks IIRC are Atco & HRP.

Found an interesting quote from another board. Just to put some things in perceptive for everyone.

Stock and mildly modified naturally aspirated engines have an official NHRA correction at 5600' of: ET X .9032 and MPH X 1.0745.
Extensively modified naturally aspirated engines have factors at 5600' of:
ET X .9428 and MPH X 1.0541
Extensively modified Supercharged Engines and Turbocharged Engines at 5600' are: ET X .9714 and MPH X 1.0271

The NHRA has long recognized that forced induction engines make their own air, as it were. And, it appears that they do actually suffer less at altitude than normally aspirated engines. I would bet that the true correction lies somewhere in between the ranges in the NHRA charts, particularly in the MPH figure.

Oh, and the 90* out during the races was built into the DA that your portable station generated......

That is good info. Anyone thats says that a turbo'd car isn't affected by the altitude hasn't tried to run at altitude. I would like to see some of them run up here.
