Ruger No. 1 in 280 Rem. Makes coyotes disappear. .280 is the only rifle you'll ever need.

I am not a fan of the WSM but we are all entitled to have what we like. Just going to say that you can find rounds other than the WSM that can go 800-1000 yrds.

all the guns mentioned are centerfire and you are talking about a rimfire round (17HMR) or are you talking about the .17 rem fireball?

i have a 17hmr and i love it but it is completly worthless after 150 yards also 17 grain rounds are like tissue paper in the wind the HMR is really only good for house cat sized varments or punching paper and thats all i really do with it

I got them all and take my Browning A-bolt 204 or Remy 700 vssf 204 with H&S stock over any of the others. With no wind prarrie dogs at 500 yards:thumb::thumb: not a prob. 22-250 my second choise for larger game.

I have several varmint guns and my favorites are all .22-250 they shoot flat and with H-380 powder and 55 grain v-max bullets u can destroy dogs at 400 plus but .223 is cheaper to shoot if you dont reload. Depending on how far out you want to shoot will decide bolt rifle or semi auto. I love my ar's but they wont reach out like my old model 70. They are all fun though!
