I'd recommend against Howard springs. My first built engine had a set of Howards springs. These had a flat inner dampener spring. One of those high dollar springs had two flaws in the outer wire. It broke and I lost much of the engine. The engine builder talked with Howards (owned by someone else) and was met with indifference. The Howards rods from that engine are in this current engine and I think they're the best made, but I wouldn't buy anything again with that company's name on it.

How many places sell the retainers and springs with their cams? Seems that you have to hop around too much to get everything in one package when ordering a cam.
