Ive read tons on the transgo jr install and i have the vb on the bench right now and am going a little blank...im trying to locate the little cone filter so i wont loose it but cant find it. Also, do the accumulator cups come out or just the springs?

I have found great threads on this in the forum but havent found an in depth description of the actual trim valve installation process at the work bench. Any advice and info is appreciated.

Well, bone head mistake...i drilled out the wrong hole on the seperator plate. Knew it.

What are my options with getting a new seperator plate? Im sure that the hole i made bigger will cause a malfunction.

Just for an idea of what it will screw up, if you are looking at the diagram that comes with the transgo jr kit, starting from the bottom left corner, it is the first little fluid passage hole if following the left side straight up and is just before the cut out starts stepping up and over to the right.

please lend me some expertise. Mike, is this somthing i can get through you or should i contact an Allison dealer?

The filter is on the top right side of the big valve plate if your looking at it upside down. As for the hole that you drilled wrong it would help if you could post a picture. On the trim valves your trans go kit should have came with instructions and pictures.

Who did you purchase the kit through? You should be able to call and have them help troubleshoot.

I found the filter and as far as the little balls go, the transgo directions arent clear to me, but then again, i'm the genius that cant drill the correct hole.

In the diagram, there is a "O" that has a "c" in the middle of it and if that does represent the balls then they go between the small end of the trim valve and the small spring. Does this sound right?

Thanks. Thats sounds like common sense now that i know:rolleyes:

Im at a delima with the seperator plate. Im particular enough that i dont want to reinstall it since i drilled a hole that wasnt supposed to be drilled. If it didnt work right, then i would have to find one anyway and do alot of rework. How can i be sure i will not hurt anything or make the transmission not operate right? If you guys could tell whether or not it would affect anything then i would try to get a pic up.

Bad part is that my local Allison dealer (W.W. Williams) said they dont do light duty stuff, just medium and heavy. He said I will have to go through GM to get the part because they have some contract with Allison on service and parts, or atleast these kind of parts, when it comes to the light duty transmissions. He called a GM dealer and he was told by them that they do not sell the plate alone, but that i would have to buy the whole valve body which is around $1000.

Do you guys know anywhere that would sell just the seperator plate to me? Surely somebody can get their hands on this thing.

It can be fixed easy but I don't know that I would trust you with the info. You need a good trans man for this.

What info do you mean? Are you talking about welding it then re drilling the hole? I definately cant do that. i dont weld and i would never get the hole back exactly in the right spot.

Im pretty much just a shade tree mechanic that screwed up and all i need is a new plate. I cant afford to buy a 1000 dollar part to fix this truck. Even if i went to GM, they would surely mess with my warranty. Ive posted in all 3 forums im in and havent got a response about locating one. How could it be that difficult to fint a metal plate? Does GM really have that much authority over the Allison 1000?

It probably won't hurt a thing.

I would try it and see what happens , before you throw a bunch of money around replacing a parts .J MOP

The plate can be fixed using a 1/4 " steel ball, a hammer, and a thick steel plate to support the valve body plate. I have been doing it for years. You have to be carefull. What you're going to do is shrink the hole by placing the steel ball over the mis-drilled hole and wack it a couple of times, then turnit upsidedown and do it from the other side. The hole will shrink uickly. Redrill to correct size ( most of the small holes in the plate are monitering holes for the TCM and are the same size. When redrilled, flat file the plate for high spots and you're done.

If i cant find another seperator plate then can i ship it to you and pay you to do for me

I think i just understood what you said. There is no welding involved but the steel ball will flatten out, filling the hole. It would be heck trying to redrill that little hole. I dont even know if i have a bit that small,

no thats not what he meant. No offense, but if you cant interrupt what he just said, you probably shouldn't try it. Have you called anybody else like Suncoast to see if they have a plate they'd be willing to sell??
If you cant find a used spacer plate, i'd find a buy a used trans for just a bit more and rob the parts i needed, stick the old spacer back in and sell it as a core.

****EDIT**** disregard and ship it to Mike LOL! he beat me with his post!

No offense taken...I would not do a good job.

I talked to Mike on the phone and we both realized that we are 3,000 miles apart. I am going to contact an Allison dealer that he uses because aparantly, my local dealer is not as capable for some reason. Im really wanting to start fresh with a new plate but if i cant locate one then i will ship it to Mike if he is still willing but im going to spend a little more time on the phone and internet and hopefully i will be in luck soon. Im still confused with my local Allison dealer.

I bet the same plate is used in one of the medium duty trannys and if only i knew which one then i could get it from them. All i would need is to cross reference the part number but the Allison dealer here told me they dont even have the part number for a 1000 seperator plate in their system. Allison must be strict with that, idk.
