I believe you do have to take the laptop with you for now. I haven't tried any logging yet, but Cindy posted on the DP that black box logging and controls to allow resetting the taps was a top priority with EFI - so hopefully soon.

YES for now you need to use the laptop
put it in the passengers seat and put the seat belt on it

or Casper has a nice laptop mount and i have 10" computer monitor mounted in the dash

Cheapest is the seat belt:D

When the wife got tired of gettting the sheeet scared out of her i went to Home Depot. Go to the hardware section and find a black roll of velcro tape, IIRC it was about 10' long.

Cut 2 pieces about 24" long, eye ball it. Open up the center console, look to the left and right sides where the hinge mounts. Wrap the velcro around at that point over the bottom of the opened lap top and "suck it up" tight with the velcro. I have a space between the top and bottom of my laptop when opened allowing the velcro to slip through, yet hold the bottom in place. Essentially you are strapping the bottom "fold" of the laptop to the center console lid.

Voila! unless you get real wild it'll stay for 0-100 MPH stuff, if you have dips (SoCal intersections) in the road and catch air... the laptop doesn't sit flat on the console lid, put a thin towel under it and it takes up the slack in the uneven surface.

If you had a BANKS PDA mount on the dash it may work well for a holder in the near future.....:D

Sorry no pict's truck not here:D

On my lly with center console I wedged it between the console lid and front area covering the cup holders. Most laptops fit perfect with pressure there.

Same on the lmms, but much bigger area. Console is flat though so it just sits there.
