quick question-

can I use my v2 to read and clear DTC on vehicles not supported by EFI live?

I just tried to read the codes on a coworkers Toyota Tacoma, and it keeps saying "no DTCs" but the CEL is illuminated

I am wondering if this is going to change at some point, though. I was reading codes on my truck with the latest firmware for the V2, and when I went to get the description of the code, it had a list of several other manufacturers.

Makes me wonder if they are planning to let you read/clear codes for any OBD2 vehicle at some point in the future.

ya I thought it might have worked to pull the code for any OBD2 vehicle, considering I can buy a $20 code reader that will.

guess I'll have to swtich and leave efi live at home and carry my cheapo code reader in the glovebox

Theoretically the V2 has the capability/hardware to work with any vehicle that has CAN. CAN was mandated for OBD diagnostics by the EPA starting in the 2008 model year. But a lot of cars began using CAN for OBD diagnostics as early as 04-05ish. Dmax got it in 2006.

Before 2008 model year, manufacturers were free to use a wide variety of OBD-2 protocols, J1850 VPW (IE class 2, what GM's use), J1850 PWM, SCI, K-line/L-line, ISO 9141, etc)

Its just a matter if EFILive wants to add basic EPA-code reading to the V2. I doubt they would bother adding manufacturer-specific code reading to all vehicles, but maybe at least EPA (P0xxx codes) DTC's.

I just noticed that when I loaded the update tunes for recent mods.
