Used truck prices out of control

I'm currently in the market for a tow rig/work truck I'm pretty open to any style duramax as long as its milage is ok and the price is decent what i'm finding is the prices are outrageous...27-35K for a 05-07 with 75-100,000+ miles on them? Where do they get off asking so much money for 4+ yr old trucks? For Example I paid $40,150 for my truck out the door before taxes granted the list was $49,500 . Saw a truck similar to it at a local dealer with 55,000miles on it they were asking $37,500...so with 24,500 on the clock i should be able to pull in 40+ for my truck right? its just unreal. If any truck is under $22,000 its got 190,000-200,000. I even saw an 06 with 270,000 on it they were asking $18,000 for I just dont get it and hope prices come down

The truck market was totally depressed 3-4 years ago and now it's not. Just keep searching and you'll find a good deal eventually.

I agree. Its hard to find a nice used truck right now for a good deal. Back in 06 I bought my truck for 24,500 and it had 34,500 miles on it. Truck was as perfect as brand new with tinted windows, Stainless step bars, roll in lock tonuea cover, rhino liner, and brand new michelin tires. I thought i stole it lol. Im in the same boat. Tryin to get rid of the yaris and find a second diesel. I'm not sure if i can swing this though.

I bought my 02 about 2 1/2 yrs ago with 60k for just under $14k and the truck was absolutely mint!!! It had never even had the knock out pulled out of the bumper for a ball to tow anything and not hardly a scratch in the bed, it was traded in by an old man for a brand new one he ordered the same way (i know because i was there when he traded it) if my truck were on the lot today in the exact same condition they wouldnt hesitate to ask at least $20k:confused: it makes absolutely no since why theyy think tthey can get these kind of prices!!! Theres a dealer near me called north texas truck stop that deals exclusively in heavy duty and custom diesel trucks. When i was looking for a truck i stopped there a few times to look and their prices were ridiculous but now everyone else has slowly brought their prices up to match ntts :mad: I just hope it comes to an end soon:(

there's a good amount around the Mid-West right now around the 100k miles range give or take 30k miles for right around $20-$25k depending on configuration. i'm bored in class and just looked some up on cars.com. just don't know if you'd want get something that far away from ya.

Hell just watch ebay they are on there all the time i bought mine 4 years ago with 110k on it with everything beside sunroof and entertainment system for $21 and i bet i could still sell it for 19 20 they hold their value very well but you can find the deals keep typing in duramax on ebay and go to newly listed and you will catch a deal for sure

I look at it a different way, new trucks can cost $50K-$60K right now with tighter credit requirements ........so when they cost that much new the older models keep a higher value.......as a rule after 3-4 years they should bring 60% of the sticker price new, not selling price new.

So a $45K sticker price new is worth $27K at 60% of sticker.

All those people who bought Dmax's pre-OBAMA-GM-Motors saw 0% rates and huge discounts off sticker, those days are probably gone, so now they have equity when they sell or trade and the dealers have to pay more to get them.

Add in the fact that the newer models are not tunable ( YET ), are loaded with emissions and UREA requirements and the used market is probably harder to come by as people just refuse to deal with all that crap.

Hate to say it, but the supply vs. demand works the way it was intended.

Couldn't have said it any better tony. That's why, i may have a few issues with our lb7 right now, but in the end i would rather have it over a new EPA equipped disaster... :roflmao:

new truck prices are outa hand too! hahah saw a white denali parked at the new dealer by my house...stopped to peak at it...50,000 almost for a half ton gas truck..funny the original bill of sale is in my 87 3/4 i have...sold for 14,650 brand new in 1986....

I've been looking around recently and can't believe the used Dmax prices. I was looking for an LMM, I found one close that was a low option '07.5 CCSB w/101K for $30...that seemed high to me.

I agree with Tony, I think it is a good thing for us.

Down here in GA trucks are cheap. I bought an 01 EC/LB with 150k for 10k. Theres an 04 2500HD with 170k for 14k down here too. But prices have certainly started to go back up all over the place.
