Urgent EFI Live problem... can't use my truck until I get it fixed.

Hello everyone,

I just bought EFI Live/Flashscan V2 because I am installing an aftermarket exhaust system on my truck, and need EFI Live to disable the DPF regen function, and disable the exhaust gas temperature and differential pressure sensors associated with the DPF. The vehicle is a 2007.5 Chevrolet Silverado with the Duramax 6.6L diesel, and I am located in Alberta, Canada.

I purchased the exhaust system and the EFI Live software from Ted at MPL Motorsports in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. The exhaust system is an MBRP 4" stainless turbo-back system.

I installed the exhaust system today, and installed the EFI Live software. When I connect the Flashscan V2 to my computer, a message appears on the Flashscan which says "Upgrade Pending... Before using this device, select the Flashscan V2 upgrade option on your PC." When I select that option, it asks me to plug in both a V1 and V2 to perform the upgrade. I have never owned EFI Live before, and don't own a Flashscan V1. Is it possible I was sent the wrong version of Flashscan V2? It seems to be an upgrade version rather than a full version.

Any suggestions on how I can resolve this issue? I have made a submission the the Help Desk on the EFI Live website but haven't heard back from them yet. I can't drive the vehicle until I get EFI Live working, because now the DPF is gone. I'm a little stressed since I need my truck for work on Monday. Tried calling Ted at MPL but they are closed since it's Saturday.

Thanks
Randy

I know minimal. I would go on efi's website download the newest software. Register ur controller and you should be set to pull ur stock tune off. I'm sure more will chime in

The good news for you is that New Zealand is a day ahead of us so you will get service tomorrow.

You should be able to download the correct software on EFI lives website but if you need firmware and such you will need to talk to an EFI vendor or EFI Live themselves.

See if you can get ahold of Guy (SN:trippin) he may be able to help if he has time, otherwise you should be able to get ahold of someone at EFI Live at 3PM tomorrow.

I've downloaded the latest software and firmware updates from the EFI Live website and that didn't help. Guess I will wait to hear from their support desk.

So what you are saying is that you cannot upload your trucks stock tune?

All upgrades aside, your EFI Live V2 should read your truck. If it doesnt do that much then we have a problem.

But if it does read your stock tune, does it let you modify it?

If it lets you modify it then will it let you reprogram your truck?

If it lets you do that, worry about the upgrades later.

EFI Live upgrades can be a PITA sometimes. I remember sitting on teh phone with guy for over an hour updating my firmware once.

Also plug and unplug the EFI live in many different places in different orders and start and restart EFI Live too. It is tempermental sometimes.

Hmm that's an interesting one, can you just press cancel or something for the V1>V2 upgrade? Does your computer recognize a V2 plugged in when you connect it?

Yes I updated the firmware on the V2 itself, and no, it can't read my truck's stock tune, or let me make changes to it.

Ted didn't do the work because I wanted to do the work myself. Probably should have had him do it...

What exactly did you down load?

Worst case scenario I'll drive out and tune your truck for the cost of a licence so you can get to work

Will do Ted.

Sweetdiesel, the files I downloaded and installed were:
EFILive V7.5.6 Build 133
EFILive V8.1.2 Build 115

I also upgraded the firmware on the V2 to the latest version (2.06.41)
The bootblock was already the latest version (2.06.03)

I'm in the process of getting the issue resolved, I got a message from Paul at EFI Live in New Zealand and sent him a copy of my purchase invoice and the serial number on my flashscan, and he will send me a code to get the unit out of upgrade mode.
