I never had an issue with it, so I left it in place. I ASSume you forgot it and had the turbo already bolted down

Worse I can see it doing is baking your paint, I can't remember if my LLY had one on the stock motor or not. But the new def did not have one and I didn't see where it hurt anything.
After I changed my wheel, never put it on. That was 5 years ago

I just swapped my turbo this weekend and left it on. I was gonna throw it out but I didn't have any issues lining shit up so I left it. I doubt it really does much
I don't think it does anything. I tossed mine when I went to the S371 and the oil drain interfered. I was running braided nylon line for the oil drain, and since that didn't melt running right under the pedestal, I figure the shield can't be much use.
