A good day for some, not for others....

What a beautiful day to race! Started at 50*, went to 75* by 3pm, low humidity with a slight tailwind!
First run of the day was a [email protected] on a very soft launch (1.82-60ft). Caltracs and shocks were helping, and the 01 OS TCM worked very well with the tweaks in the ECM tune! Thanks again, Tony and Justin...trans shifted great with your advice and help! I was thinking, "This could be it.."

BUT no...........I spent the rest of the day in the stands videoing. :(

Second run was a 13.14. Truck sputtered all the way down the track....

Third run was even worse. Truck literally shut itself off when I put my foot to the floor at the start. I had to restart it, and putt putt down the track to the early turnout.
Engine lopes badly, has knocking that comes and goes on a regular basis, starts hard, and has no power above 2500rpm...in fact, you cant accelerate hardly at all until you get her past 50mph, youve gotta slowly get to speed.
I ran 23700-24200 psi rail on the first run, then rail went completely hayware the second, bouncing from 15000 to 22000 and all points in between. Third was even worse. Does it on the big tune and stock, cold or warm. On the way home, I lugged the engine a bit accidentally, and couldnt get above 2000rpm....then I see white smoke out the tailpipe (passenger mirror).

Im thinking injectors. Checked balance rates, and have 1 over 5.0, 1 over 4.0, and 2 over 3.5. :( Maybe the FPR finally gave up the ghost, or the Rail valve popped open and stayed that way, but I dont really know how to check.
Brand new filter put on last night. No leaks and fuel was coming out the bleed when I checked.

Of all the freaking times for the injectors to take a dump. Just my dang luck. Hmmm...think the dealer will mind the Caltracs?

But theres a bright side to all this, too............Darius ran a [email protected]!!!! :) Mike Moore ran an 11.69@115 on a stock bottom end, dual cp3, A4000 combo! So while I had a crappy day, my friends had good ones, which made it all worth while!

Yes, you missed a good time. Huge event....all the pavement and down the grass were filled with trailers/cars. The lady announcer was giving props to the diesel pickups, too! She said that there were 65 entries in brackets, and it was their largest "rent the track" event to date.

I hope its nothing major, too.....but if it is, honestly....dont you all think it was bound to happen anyway for how Ive pushed the truck?
Its my first "breakage" on the truck....and first time I couldnt compete.

wow...were my private messages a curse?

No, actually your messages were fine.

Wyo-dmax's PMs helped immensely with the shifting issues. That first run was just my "shakedown" to get the trans to learn, and it shifted perfectly.

I just think something didnt like 24200psi of fuel pressure....whoops.

BTW, anyone know of someone with a Tech2 close to Lansing, MI who;s willing to help me test the system to see if it holds 160mpa rail? Trent told me how to do it with EFI, but it means I have to dig into the FPR again to unplug it. Ugh.

First off Sorry to hear the carnage Second NICE TIME:eek: thats WOW

As far as testing you can try to use EFI:) Either use a DSP and max the dsp table to 160mpa or the or there is that new fancy option in EFI that iirc lets you do command the pressure by the push of the button.

Sorry dont have EFI on this puter,But i used it to test my glow plugs and it worked well:)

Simon, that's a GREAT option.....too bad I have a V1, though.

Thanks on the kudos and the condolensces. Yeah, the mph was there, damnit. My plan was two runs normal, then couple w/1st gear delete, then Darius was going to let me try his drag radials. I honestly thought 12.20s were possible today, but it wasnt in the cards.

I don't know if the V1 works like a V2, but I can test rail pressure with the V2. I go into the scan side and set up the PIDS for the rail pressure commanded and actual also throw in RPM's as well. Start logging it with those PIDS then go into the DVT's and then command it to 160. You won't be able to see it in real time, but it will record it and you can play it back and seee what actual and commanded was at different RPM's. Works with my 01 modded to an 02 OS, and on an 03 I did last week. You can also log the balance rates and see what they do at different pressures this way as well.

You should have the DVT function with the V1 or V2. From what I understand, the software is the same.
