Are these just for the two rear u-joints? Or are the fronts the same size?
Don't want to resurrect but i just got a spicer greasable U Joint. The peak stress on the joint will occur at the outer most surfaces and not the inner most so the actual differences in strength should be relatively negligible, all things else ie tooling method and composition, being the same. It wouldn't be that hard to run a model of both through cad software and get some numbers if you have access to it.

Don't care what your software tells you. If you read around the forums over the past 10 plus years far more greasables have broke than non. And not just dmax's. Proof enought for me and many others.
If you break a greaseable spicer U-joint 1410 series ( most 01-07 classics are this size). Its either lack of mainteance, or you my friend are doin work.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure the greaseable spicers are cast cross, and the sealed OE spicers are a forged cross. Either way, the composition is not the same. Without looking, I also want to say the trunion size on the sealed/forged joint is larger than the greaseables.
There is no servicing sealed ujoints without taking them apart. If you take them apart, you need to replace them.

Do you mean pulling the bearing cap off? Lots of u joints you have to pull the cap off to get in the yoke. Aslong as you don't drop a bearing, they should be totally fine.
I guess he seems to think I was talking about greasing a non serviceable U-joint.
I was.
167k miles of abuse and still on the stock one.
Guess what is going back in...:thumb:
I may be a little green with the Dmax compared to many. While I know I could surely learn alot from you, the chances of you teaching me anything about U-joints is pretty slim
