Well in this job hunt I have noticed a few places asking what I type per minute...
Although I could say I can make 3.76 posts per day on DD lol, I thought I would actually see what I do

I was able to average about 40 words per minute and pretty much 100% accurate. I guess 30-50 is average.

see what you can do, I found some other links but they require you to click start, which may slow you down a hair.

Interesting. Looks like I do 64-65 pretty consistently, with usually 1 typo (stupid small laptop keyboard). I do better (typo wise, same speed) on full-size keyboards.

I'm surprised I'm not faster, since I've been programming quite a bit for the last 2 months.

I used to do the same thing. Over time my typing evolved to what I do now. I still don't have my fingers in the "right" positions, but it seems to work for me. I could never stand the way they tried to teach me in high school.

Lol, I busted out the "big guns" (I turned on a light in the room so I could see what the heck I was doing) and I pulled off a 74! Not half bad, IMO.

And purely for the fun of it, using only my right hand I got 36 WPM, and 34 with only my left. I guess that makes sense, really, as that adds to 70.

My typing teacher in high school, (mind you it was 1960 and we used real mechanical typewriters) would alway stand behind you and put your hands correctly on the home row. She had these great set of boobs. I could never seem to get it right. She passed me for effort only...I actually think she knew I enjoyed her boobs sitting on my sholders and rubbing on my ears.:D:thumb: 44 with no errors, I'm a lot faster if I'm not reading and transcribing.

I never knew I sucked that bad, it should give you some credit for words that are close, I got 30, but it said I had 12 wrong words.

38 then a 44

Beginning of college I sucked and had to actually look to type. I'm better now but still have to look down sometimes if I get thrown off. I sorta keep my fingers in the right places but I don't think I use all of them and don't always use the correct finger(s) for certain letters.

I can't believe how much faster I would feel if I could get 20-30 MORE wpm like some of you all do. Shit, I'd feel like Jim Carey in Bruce Almighty when he was hammering away answering the prayers via e-mail.
